Sorry nae poetry fae me... but...
The kids in my class are convinced that Robbie's twin children were Siamese twins - can anyone confirm or deny?
Twins? Obviously my education on my national poet is lacking... can you enlighten me as I was only aware that there had been children... would have been pretty hard not to have children... he wasn't just a great poet.. he was a great philanderer too!
Just did a search for "Robbie Burns - twin children" and got a great site - didn't keep a note of it, that gives a diary of his life - his twins were called Robert and Jean but there's no mention of them being Siamese twins - so I think my children in class have been mislead somewhere.
Just did a couple of searches for Rabbie Burns came up with these:
The National Library of Scotland http://www.nls.uk/burns/index.htm Doesn't mention Twins - but does mention everything else
and from Learning and Teaching Scotland: http://www.ltscotland.org.uk/search/index.asp
A whole load of hopefully helpful resources
Sorry I had to add those as I work for them
Work will stop right here - I will be found in only dance related threads from now on - no falling back into bad habits like working

Rather than parody this... felt it was worth leaving as Burns wrote it himself
Then let us pray that come it may,

Shall bear the gree, an' a' that.
For a' that, an' a' that,
It's coming yet for a' that,
That Man to Man, the world o'er,
Shall brothers be for a' that.

Wow! That was absolutely fabulous! You've made my night!!
Thanks In my defence, I'm from Burns Country originally. Stayed in Dumfries for about 4-5 years (Used to drink in Rabbie's own local pub.. "the Howff") and we were all force fed Burns Poetry in Primary school.
Truth be told, I'm more often accused of being Irish or English than I am accused of being Scottish. Many years of Speech therapy and moving around the country will tend to dull one's natural accent somewhat..
