Looks fab!!!!
D am n why's it in Glasgow?
Got a flyer through my door the other day for this place – "Gather in Glasgow". It's just 5 minutes up the road from me...
From the descriptions and the photos, it looks really nice, and very dancer-friendly.
Here's a wee description of the main space...
I'm not good at figuring out how big a space is, so I'm not sure what that size would mean for how many dancers you could fit in.The studio space is the main activity area and has a maximum area of 10m (32 feet) x 8m (26 feet). It has mirrors along one wall (the 8m one) but with a curtain so that the mirror can be closed off as appropriate depending on the use for the venue.
They are starting up some of the typical dance classes you'd expect – salsa, street, etc... They mention a possibility of tango classes and they want to run regular ceilidhs there too.
Anyway, figure it would be good for practicing, workshops, or perhaps a monthly "smooth grooves" tea-dance, or something like that... (Hint, hint! )

The dance floor, itself, in the Invercarse is 11.5m X 9.6m so that might give you a better idea of the size.

Hi Duncan.this place is in the mes just off Byres road so when its finished we could all jump round to Jinty McGintys for a refreshment. Not sure that it would be good venue though as its quite small.I also think its above an old garage??
Yeah, there's a huge range of nearby pubs and restaurants.
I haven't been down Ruthven Lane lately, but I was suspicious that there were no external photos. From digging around, I'd guess it's the brick building in the mid-ground of this photo. Think the old garage is on the other side of the lane...
So, OK, it's small – but that's just another word for intimate.

Yeah, I figured it would comparable with the King Robert... Big enough for a workshop or a smaller class night or freestyle.
A Friday evening or Sunday afternoon chilled freestyle there (even without the focus workshop) would be lovely. If I had any organisational ability I'd give it a go myself...
I'm also thinking of possible venues for a birthday party for myself at the end of the year... It'd be nice to find a place I could walk to.

Not sure that's the correct building ducasi - the directions say go right after Stravaigin 2, then left after The Bothy. That would place it well off to the left of this photo, round the other side of the garages. I think some buildings round that side have been renovated recently.
The whole thing sounds like an interesting concept.
Yeah, you're right – the building is definitely in this photo though.

Never did get round to organising a birthday party at this venue, but I have just found another great-looking venue in Glasgow which would be ideal for classes or parties.
It's at Sloan's in the Argyle Arcade. They have a fabulous ballroom upstairs, plus a few smaller rooms that are available for hire.
Apparently there's already a weekly Tango class there on Mondays, and Dance House use it on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

I hate you all VERY VERY much right now!!!!
Why cant we have lovely venues like that!
Sloans does look great. I got an email from DADA today (http://www.dada.co.uk) who, along with Dance House are organising taster dance sessions there from 8th – 19th Jan at lunchtimes, so anyone in the city centre could nip along for a nosy!
Parking at the back of St Enoch’s isn’t too far away!?
There's also a car park in Mitchell Street which is very near. In the evenings there's also (I believe) free on-street parking around about there. Presumably their current patrons manage.
I have to confess, it was the DADA email which led me to look into it.
