What would you have organisers do about bad floors?

i have found that as long as a floor is cleaned properly and left deposit free, this is more than adequate for people to dance on. What you do find though is that floors are not cleaned properly or maintained properly by having a regular buff and polish and this is where the problems start. This is nearly always down to cost.

The organisers should insist the floor is cleaned before we dance in the halls and also ensure before they pick a venue, that the floor is burnished (polished to those who are not aware) at least quarterly. This will avoid most if not all the problems dancers experience.

    HI Martin

do you think its right organisors book such halls? Failing that what seems to work is them discussing their issues with the halls and see if its question the cleaners can use a different solution on the floors. However if the other weekly functions/events at that hall require a non slip floor, to a dancer a sticky floor, then it wont change.
Halls can be very fast, Ive always believed HOVE town hall to be like an ice rink and very unsafe for many dancers with wrong shoes!!

well said!! Maybe it would help in bad situations that organisors build in this cost to get hall cleaned?
