Best / most overhyped Xmas telly

    Best:
    - Doctor Who - of course
    - Sarah jane Adventures - I know , but it was 10X better than Torchwood
    - Eastenders, as it showed that an ugly old bald guy can indeed get young girls What do you mean, it's not real?

    Over-hyped:
    - This Life + 10 - what a bunch of dipsticks...
    - SCD Xmas special - sorry, but it was a bit boring.

    Any others?

Eastenders was "best" ? bah.... soapy tosh.

Dr.Who was marvelous of course. I did not see the SJ Adventures - in fact Ive never heard of it....but if its only 10x better than Torchwood its barely got into the above mediocre category

My worst - some terrible Dutch singer crooning like a has been just before the Bells.

Best - not TV at all - just hordes of Dutch people setting off huge boxes of fireworks in the street for over an hour. Nutters.

David....in the same way that you think the cheeky girls are attractive.....I think that bald bloke on Eastenders is absolutely gorgeous.

I was really looking forward to The Vicar of Dibley, but it didnt live up to expectations....and lets face it.....totally unbelievable that a fit thirty something man would marry a 50 something female vicar & her wedding dress looked like a bed sheet. Glad it got covered in mud.

I wonder if the Cheeky Girls think the bald bloke from Eastenders is attractive though

P.S. This could be a new thread - famous odd couples (excluding Peter and Jordan cus they're real... sort of)

I thought that the Hogfather was particularly boring. Watched the first hour or so. Switched off.

Actually the last episode of Torchwood was OK, mainly because of one sound effect though.

As for Spaced - time to dig up an old thread...

You read the book? If not, don't - 'cos it was extremely close to the book. A few little bits left out (like the Cheerful Fairy) but nothing extra added and dialogue almost exclusively from the book.

If you have read the book then you already knew all the story and had read the dialogue so mightn't find it too gripping.

Aside from Doctor Who and SCD I didn't really see much TV over Christmas - esp not from the Sun - Wed.

Nope. I stopped reading the Terry Pratchett books after the first 5 or so, when I realised that the jokes were mostly the same, and nothing else really changed between the books....

Try "Going Postal" as an example of his more detailed characterisation Trampy...

I have got the lot - though I will luxuriate with Thud! at a later date (don't plot spoil for me anyone!)

On average at least the last 4 or 5 have been getting more complex and interesting, but then everyone has different tastes.

Ttry Carpe Jugulum, Pyramids, and The Truth (onwards)

    Whitetiger reverts to topic:

    "Sorry What was topic again?"

I've just watched This Life + 10 and I wasn't that impressed with it.
