I recently saw a quote by an elderly guy which went soemthing like this:
"Making a living and making a life are not the same thing".
Maybe he was regretful about certain life choices (or failure to make life choices).
I would like to know about what life factors (as many as possible!) do you feel:
(A) That you wish you had done from childhood to now
(B) that you would like to do from today to death bed
I am not after general philosophical things like (" But I have no regrets about what I have done or not done" etc not because these are not vaild, but because I want to try to confine the answers to things that are concrete and specific and that are to do with the area of regret and preventing future regret).
For example for me
(A) I wish I had worked harder to get a career in the music industry; taken more risks in business; grown my hair really really long ( I can't do it now!); done body building;helped my dad round the house more;done more for oppressed people; made more money; played the stock market more; actively built certain relationships; been less sensitive to rejection
(B) Try to preserve my body and make it better;do things for oppressed people...ie do something; take my business ideas to market;spiritual things; write books
Yes it is similar to a previous thread that I started but that was really to do with age defiance. I now want to go wider to deeper life issues/regrets.
Thanks

Ogden Nash said;
"May you live every day of your life"
IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER
I'd dare to make more mistakes next time.
I'd relax, I would limber up.
I would be sillier than I have been this trip.
I would take fewer things seriously.
I would take more chances.
I would climb more mountains and swim more rivers.
I would eat more ice cream and less beans.
I would perhaps have more actual troubles,
but I'd have fewer imaginary ones.
You see, I'm one of those people who live
sensibly and sanely hour after hour,
day after day.
Oh, I've had my moments,
And if I had it to do over again,
I'd have more of them.
In fact, I'd try to have nothing else.
Just moments, one after another,
instead of living so many years ahead of each day.
I've been one of those people who never goes anywhere
without a thermometer, a hot water bottle, a raincoat
and a parachute.
If I had to do it again, I would travel lighter than I have.
If I had my life to live over,
I would start barefoot earlier in the spring
and stay that way later in the fall.
I would go to more dances.
I would ride more merry-go-rounds.
I would pick more daisies.
Nadine Stair,
N.B. There are many versions of this poem. It's been attributed to many people over the years in different, but similar, versions. I think this one is the best, if slightly cheesy. However, I rather like the sentiment behind it.
