I think it's called hello/bye-bye on the smiley program I used.
I was simply testing to see if the forum accepted external smileys and I'm delighted to see it does.
For those interested in using something different, here's a link to Getsmile v1.93 that has hundreds of still and animated smilies that can be used on most forums (use the free option)

Re: Testing a new smily program

I could tell you but then I would have to kill you ....

    no.. ok then

I have my own supply of smileys from when I had my own forum(s) and can all be found here

Browse to the one you like say.. oh.. the santa one.. click on it and copy the link http://www.skyfall.co.uk/forum/santa.gif then click on the little picture above .. that looks like paste the link into that box and click ok.. should look like
    HTML Code:
    [IMG]http://www.skyfall.co.uk/forum/santa.gif[/IMG]
and when you post it it'll look like this -->

You can do this with ANY site not just mine but it's generally frowned upon, so I tend to use my own now defunct web space and bandwidth. feel free to use mine if you like, you have my permission.. I have lots of unused bandwidth

Beowulf's method will work perfectly well but if you use Getsmile you will have a column of icons just as you do in this forum and simply drag 'n' drop the one(s) you want as you would do normally and you can party with your smilies all night long

I hope we haven't started something we may live to regret as the overuse of smilies is worse than the dreaded blinking text.

    Have a merry Christmas all,

I'm just really hoping that Taz has you on ignore, and doesn't see your post!

I don't think I know who Taz is, at least not by name, so I don't know why he/she would have me on ignore but going by your inference Steve, it looks like I've done something wrong ??
If I have, apologies by the bucket load (and not a smiley in sight) ;o)

Sorry Brian. Taz(manian Devil) has been known to use the occasional smiley* in her posts**!

I was just being slightly ironic. You've done nothing wrong***

    *[cough]Usually by the bucketload[/cough]

**I think Beo was demonstrating by posting in a Taz-like style.

***And neither has she really. She knows I love her really!
