What tooth is it?
Unfortunatly theres not all that much that can be done. Is it more gum ache or in the actual tooth? Try using some sensodine. Don't brush it on, put a small amount on your finger and rub it on the tooth (and the ones around it).
I am looking for advice, I'm trying to study and finish assignment but have horrendous toothache........ am due in college in couple of hours and couldn't get appiontment with the dentist( have a phobia of the dentist surgery also something to do with the noise and smell........ its okay when I have time to prepare myself for it , so doesn't help) Have had bother with wisdom tooth cutting gum and now am just in pain...........................
Even resorted to trying clove oil..........................yuk!
Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also could try swishing wiskey over the tooth, Just spit it out when done as you have course work to do.
Don't hold your hand on your cheek either as the heat can make it worse.
Hope it gets better soon. Toothache sucks
A salt water mouthwash can help - I used to do that when my wisdom teeth were giving me grief. It kills off any infection that might have started in the gum as the tooth erupts. (I eventually had all four wisdom teeth out in a single session in the dentist's chair. It wasn't as bad as I'd feared, so take heart).
Oil of cloves is the best treatment even if it does taste yuk. I once got it on my tongue and lips - something that is best avoided. Try using a cotton bud soaked in the stuff to reach the site of the pain without anaesthetising your entire mouth.
Good luck - hope it clears up soon.
Coat a jelly baby in clove oil and put it back in the bag, then offer them around.
Its hard to describe its more a pain in the gum as wisdom tooth at very back of my mouth on the top, but is a really kind of deep ache in gums all down that one side of mouth....................
mm........thought about the whisky but 2 things cropped up......
1: have clients in for treatments at college this afternoon so not really a smell you can hide..........
and
2: I don't actually have any ........lol
P.s. child birth is seriously not the worst pain!!!!!!!!!!
Is it safe?
Is what safe?
Is it safe?
Arrgggghhhhhhh!!!!!!
Cheeks go find a copy of The Marathon Man (William Goldman) or the Video with Dustin Hoffman. Watch and read. Then think is my dentist a mad Nazi Scientist..? hmmmm?
Well then it can't be that bad bad then can it? Go to the dentist!
Had a cracked wisdom tooth, down to the root -- found that extremes of temperature were painful -- keep it warm -- not hot, not cold (lukewarm hot water bottle may help).
I think oil of cloves is the real deal -- never used it, but did end up chewing dried cloves.
Oh and drink on the other side of the mouth, etc., etc.
Cotton wool might be useful as a bit of padding -- keep things warm, dry, etc.

P.S. Have a chat at your local chemist, they might be able to suggest a suitable pain-killer?
It's better to keep a tooth cool rather than warm because if it is infected, warmth will develop the infection quicker. Some people say suck an ice cube but that might make it worse if it is still sensitive.
Clove oil is good for 10 seconds but it is disgusting.
Have you tried bonjella? they do an adult one that has clove oil infused in it which is good for gum pain.
Decapitation?
Toothache is certainly painful enough to make that a tempting option.
I know you prefer natural remedies, but ibuprofen is an effective anti-inflammatory and desperate times call for desperate measures. Expensive, but highly recommended (by me) are Boots long-lasting ibu tablets - they really do last for up to 12 hours and are the same dosage level as the regular tabs - just in slow release format.
Hope you get a dentist appointment soon.
Ive heard that gargling with an asprin (in water obviously) helps the pain of toothache.
Thankyou everyone.....................
Still in pain but managed to get through the day anyway.......with continual use of clove oil ( applied with cotton bud, as have also experienced the not so nice sensation when it touches tongue or lips....) as well as bonjella and salt water rinses..............Lets just say with pain like that I'll try anything ............except the ice cube .............lol..............am seriously hoping the dentist just takes my wisdom teeth out as really don't like this pain...........( child birth wasn't this painful.....)
thanks LMC I do agree think Iboprofen on this occasion is going to be necessary........

Have you tried having sex? Works for colds too apparently.
Haven't got time to see if anyone else has recommended this, but oil of cloves is the short term answer. Hope you can still buy it.
Sorry just noticed you already knew that
Just a quick update .....................toothache feeling much better got dentist tomorrow so fingers crossed they just want to take the wisdom teeth out.
Thankyou to everyone for all there advice I think over the couple of days I tried them all with the pain shifters being clove oil( and even with a cotton bud still managed to numb my tongue..lol) and LMC advice on slow release ibuprofen.......( the good thing was didn't have to take many)
now just need to go try do something about these bloody spots that just decided to appear 2 days before masqued ball....... ......mm....suppose if I altered my masque I could just cover the whole face ....just not having much luck......positive thinking though looking forward to lots of fab dances ..........as long as I don't scare them off .................
