"Worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do, but it gets you nowhere." ~Glenn Turner
not to mention an influx of rather stylish Scottish dancers
I wonder if StrayCat264 reads this thread.......
All I can say is... Cruella, Zebra Woman, Foxy... such a shame you missed tonight
While I'm not quite ready to admit to actually liking cake other than chocolate....if I was, then Sparkle's Lemoncake would definitely be where I'd start
CJ spinning some great tunes as well as Greg ..though the lyrics kept making me laugh. What was the vampire song?
Well as I don't drink, the cute scottish dancers will do fine
Thanks to all for a lovely evening
Christopher
On the menu tonight we have:
Lemon butterfly cakes (with buttercream and lemon curd)
Date and walnut loaf cake (crust saved especially for Puddy Tat )
and...
Chocolate cake (with buttercream and chocolate fudge icing)
... there will also be an opportunity to donate some money to the Multiple Sclerosis Society (as per Amir's newsletter), thank you in advance for your generosity
See you all tonight.
Sparkles.
Brrrrrrrr it's definitely getting colder at nights now.
Thanks to Greg for some faster tracks to keep everyone warm through the slower tracks
The chocolate cake was indeed
I don't know if it was the weather or the chocolate (or both) but the freestyle seemed more chilled out than normal which was a nice change of pace.
And thanks to Sparkles for helpful shouted suggestions on the subtle difference between dancing and musical statues
And thanks to Ghost for that dance! Maybe I should slow things down to that speed more often? As it at last gives me a chance to practice some of those tricky Jango moves.
Greg
Fine by me .
I've got to admit I was surprised at how well you led the eskimo / sacada move given that you don't get the opportunity to dance much at Jango and it was only taught last week
Taz has started a booking system for getting dances with her when she djs - maybe you could use something similar?
Last night's cake was a "spiced honey and fruit" in honour of Little Angell's Birthday - recipe was requested, but I made it up(!) so from memory here goes:
220g unsalted butter (soft)
200g runny honey
3 large eggs
1 table spoon milk
220g self-raising flour
30g cornflour
1 level teaspoon baking powder
1 pinch salt
1 level teaspoon ground ginger
1 level teaspoon cinnamon
A large handful of dried apricots (roughly chopped)
1 1/2 handfuls of sultanas
Beat butter and honey together until creamy. Beat eggs and milk together in a separate bowl and gradually add to the butter/honey mix.
Mix all dry ingredients together (except fruit) and gradually sift and fold into the batter.
Add fruit last, mix well.
Pour into a large circular cake tin and bake at 170-180degreesC for 40-45mins.
OK so does anyone actually know what Amir was up too last night?
I really enjoyed learning to dance more "gooey"
Last week's collection for MS went really well - yay Sparkles
And congrats to Roger and partner (I didn't quite catch their name sorry)
A pleasure both watching Little Angel's birthday dance and getting to finish it
to Sparkles for managing to make a Birthday Cake without sugar
Lots of cool tunes and ladies to dance with
Does that mean I should keep yesterday's left overs for myself?
Sorry, I'm a bit slow to reply here, the Meltdowners raised £103.91, which is going towards people with, or affected by, MS. The MS Christmas fair that Sarah did even more baking for raised £1398.39!!Originally Posted by sparkles

I'll be playing a luscious Ruth Brown track in tribute tonight, after she passed away last Thursday.
