There's a thing that they're doing on Radio 4's PM next Tuesday, where they're asking all listeners to take a photo at 5pm precisely and send the photo in.

It's basically a visual snapshot of the nation, equivalent to the blog snapshot they did a few weeks ago.

Would a MJ equivalent of this be a good idea?

For example, take a photo at (say) 10pm precisely on a particular day at your local venue, then we can create a photo album of this?

    Do two

    one 10.00 one 22.00

You can have an AM and PM section that might be a little more interesting than just seeing dance venues!

I've added a poll, to gauge interest.

I'd prefer a "dance flavour" - this is apparently a dance forum - but it doesn't have to be Ceroc, or MJ for that matter. Wherever you're dancing, you can take a photo at 10pm.

I'd also suggest it be representative of a normal day - so not a weekend thing.

I'm happy to take a photo at my venue - fortunately it doesn't require much organisation, as we can just agree a particular day and time and go for it.

What about doing it over the course of a week. I know its more photos but would be interesting to see the difrences between a Mon and Sat. dance

I like the idea - rather like the Beeb's 'day in life of...'.

Of course you'd have to have buy in from everyone here for it to a success - can we make it non day specific as it's the one night when I try to have a night off to see non dancing friends.

Fair enough - how about "10pm, Monday to Friday" then?

I think it's important to just have a "real" snapshot, that's why the time is important - fortunately, with digital photos we can ensure that this is accurate. (No, it doesn't have to be 22:00:00 exactly, but as close as your watch says )

And those of us who don't (or can't) dance every night stand a chance of being able to take part.

Sounds like a plan.... just have to find an attractive lady willing to pose in the photo with me (to distract the viewers away from looking at me )

Unless you're a lazy git like me who can't be arsed to change the date (still says 1/1/99 - yep, it's an old camera)

    No!

The idea is that it's a snapshot of a venue, at a specific time - not a posed photo shoot.

Get up on the stage to take a pic of as many people as possible, or get a closeup pic of a couple dancing, or take a photo of the doorman, or of a few people chatting at the bar, of people arriving at a venue, or anything, really.

The main point of this thing is to give a snapshot of ordinary everyday dancing at a dance venue.

It's definitely not supposed to be a set of posed dance photos - it's got to be realistic.

I reckon we'd need several dozen photos to make it a goer - anyone else want to volunteer?

So far, we've got 4 people. All you need to do is take a photo at 10pm at your dance venue.

It'd be great if we could get a significant percentage of the venues covered

Blimey, hark at me, sounding almost enthusiastic there...

OK, how about next week then? The week starting Monday 4th December?

Otherwise, it gets too close to Xmas and everyone gets too frazzled to think about, well anything...

I could do this - depending on the week. Seem to dance loads some weeks and not at all on others. Also think it'd be a good idea to ask venue managers or teachers first. Are we just going to put them up on here?

    So what date?

    That's five.

I feel like I should be whistling the tune to the Magnificent Seven at the moment...
