Does anyonw know what the dancing scene is like in NZ, specifically in Auckland?
Thanks
Yes thanks!
Have a look at: http://www.ceroc.co.nz/
Adam (cerocmetro on the forum) teaches in NZ, PM him and he'll be able to send you details of his venues...
Hey. Don't blame me. I answered the question!
Yeah. What he said. Have a look at that website.
Ange (pronounced in a French way) runs Ceroc in NZ. And she is based in Auckland.
There's dancing in the centre of Auckland, at a studio set aside for Ceroc in Lorne St. It's pretty easy to get to, and runs just behind the main street in the centre.
There's also dancing all around the outskirts of Auckland, and you can pick that up from the website.
Adam actually runs Ceroc in Wellington, right down the bottom of the North Island. It's well worth a trip down there.
Say Hi to Ange from me anyhow!
in Auckland - in addition to Ceroc there is also LeBop - which has newly started up - for all their details check out their website http://www.lebop.co.nz/home.htm
Hi
I asked a similar Q a nearly 3 years ago
then sometime later after I'd returned from my trip someone else started this thread which I posted my thoughts on
Wish I was coming with you!
Thanks guys for all your help!
Oh man! Trampy beat me to the blatant Lorne Street plug....
Tell Ange, Andre and Raechel that Shanon says hi if you meet them please
As The Tramp mentioned Lorne Street is in the centre of town and easy to get to from practically anywhere. They have classes and freestyle four times a week so there are plenty of chances to go there. Sundays have a much more chilled vibe with the music than the other days. There are smaller ceroc classes pretty much all over the suburban Auckland area, run out of school and community halls much like in the UK.
The LeBop places are all in the central suburbs but if you're relying on public transport they'll be harder to get to unless you happen to be staying close to them. The one on Ponsonby road is almost certainly the easiest to get to by bus since a cheap and regular bus service runs right past it from the centre of town (it's called the Link).
I hope that helps and enjoy NZ!

Hiya!!
I did the whole travel alone thing to NZ last year and met some fab people dancing! Beware though... lots of places just have a lesson with no freestyle. I checked out web sites before i went to find out where and when there was more freestyle and went to those!!
Enjoy!
thanks - il remember that - need my freestyle fix!!!!

...am I the only person who, while scanning down the list of topics in 'Chit chat', gets a mental impression of the title of this thread as 'Dancing in marmalade'?
I always trip over it and have to go back to read it properly as Dancing in New Zealand.
I'm told Ceroc on Auckland is good, I went to Ceroc in Tauronga several times when I was out there and hade a really good time.
