Short haired or long haired Little Monkey?

    I'm going crazy......

For the last year (almost), I've tried to grow my hair. The problem is - I don't actually have hair, it's just a pile of frizzy fluff! And I'm fed up having a bad hair day every day... If I had silky, thick, sleek and shiny hair, it wouldn't be a doubt in my mind, I'd want long hair! But my only hope of looking good with long hair is to get a wig.

A lot of men have the opinion that all women should have long hair, or that women look too 'butch' with short hair. Personally, I think some women look stunning with short hair, and not everyone has hair that looks nice when it's long. What do other people think?

And most importantly, should Little Monkey have a headful of long fluff, or give up now and have it chopped again?

Keep it long and buy a pair of hair straighteners.

Hun you lasted this long all good things comes to those who wait and your looks great......... if you get bored with try straightners or put a few twists in front and some frizz serum on back honest it does work also your hair is at a length where you can cheat a bit and opt for different styles and lengths( you know like i do .........lovely long locks for dance parties and weekend and practical throw a band or in a ponytail during the week)

I think straighteners would just make it look even worse, not better! In fact, I wish my hair was a bit more curly, as then it would at least look thicker!

No, I am warming more and more to the idea of having it chopped....

A bob? I think not. Nope. Definitely not. Sorry. Not on me!

Oh, and I just noticed that I've typed a bit too fast, so the title sais 'Shrot' instead of 'Short'. Ooops.

Any chance of a pic (that could then be altered to show the options)?

    I'm having trouble visualising "fluff"

I'd say go with what makes you feel best.

Don't worry, i've edited it for you .... but I have to admit, I was intrigued by what Shrot hair was, to begin with

My advice, go to a good salon and get a consultation.

Tell them 'honestly' how much time your willing to spend titivating each day, whether your prepared to use 'products' and ask them to come up with suggestions

I only have experience of them as a third party – i.e. the guy who gets to put his fingers through the girl's straightened hair.

But I'm told you can get them for short hair... Maybe worth investigating as I hate my wavy hair!

When you are trying to grow your hair it always goes through that awful in between bit where it drives you mad & you want to hack it all off

But, as you've perservered this long keep going!

I've had very short & long hair and much prefer it long as at least you can tie it up when you are having a bad hair day!!

Re: Short haired or long haired Little Monkey?

It's funny but I have been thinking about growing my hair long again.

I got it chopped short about 2 years ago and have liked it short but now I don't know either

The thing is that as soon as I had decided I wanted to grow my hair back, everyone keeps telling me my hair looks great short

    I can't win either

Can I join the club LM

EDIT: p.s. I don't know what your hair looks like at the moment but I think your hair looks nice short.

It would be hard using straighteners on Ducasi's hair, being so short, surely...?

Well, that 'awful in between bit' has now lasted about a year. I tried to follow my hairdressers advice, and keep getting it cut and re-styled every two months or so, to make the process of growing it less frustrating (I cheated, and didn't have it cut all summer!). I'm not sure it's helped..... I had it cut again two weeks ago, and he insisted that having a fringe would make it better, and he also chopped into it a fair bit to 'lighten' the top, but it now means it's not all the same length, and won't be for several months! And I hate the fringe!!!

But, as you've perservered this long keep going!

I've had very short & long hair and much prefer it long as at least you can tie it up when you are having a bad hair day!!
I prefer it short. I had it cut short when I was 18, and have tried to grow it again once before, but went back to having short hair again pretty quickly. What I have now is the longest it's been for 14 years! I love it when it's short, because all I need to do is wash it, towel dry, and mess it up with a bit of putty! No need to comb, blow-dry, straighten or spend hours in front of the mirror styling it!

When I had long hair, it was in a ponytail about 90% of the time, and I was really fed up with it. And it's such a bother washing and drying if you're in a hurry!

I don't want a style where I have to bother with lots and lots of 'product' to make it do things it really doesn't want to do anyway, or use straighteners, curlers or faff about for hours! It's ok to use stuff like that occasionally, like whn I'm going to a dance party, but on a day-to-day basis, I want hair that's easy to manage, and doesn't take tons of time.

PS - thanks for editing the title, Lory!

You'd be surprised, I got straighteners used on my hair last time I was in getting it cut and you know how short my hair is . Funny thing is it did look different afterwards, even though I thought my hair was fairly straight to begin with.

Little Monkey, I think you look fantastic at the moment with your hair getting longer, so maybe persivere a bit more. Last time I got my hair cut my hairdreser suggested getting straightners or getting my hair chemically straightened, which sounds a bit weird. I don't know if the chemical thing is an option but it might help you having to do less messing about with straightners every morning.

Re: Short haired or long haired Little Monkey?

I wouldn't be without my long hair (although it does go through stages of being long, and not so long and very long). I have discovered though that while some men adore long hair, others can't stand it - so there's no good second-guessing that way .

Personally I think you should keep growing it, you've got this far!
Your hair is lovely and soft, if it was longer it would be in great condition, because you've taken good care of it while you're growing it. Don't waste all that effort. Persevere a bit longer
