Just got a call from an STV researcher looking for people to appear in their new show. Here's the info from STV:

Oi! It's not 'squinty', it's asymmetric. And rather beautiful with it. (Not that I'm biased or anything )
Before you assume I had anything useful to do with designing or building it, I freely admit that my most constructive contribution to the project was the steady supply of lemon cake, banana loaf, chocolate brownies and carrot cake that kept the project manager, foremen and workmen happily fed
It's not just asymmetric – it could still be asymmetric and not be squint.
The arch and cables are positioned asymmetrically, sure... But it's the fact that it doesn't cross the river at right-angles to the direction of the river flow, and perpendicular to the banks, that makes it squinty.
But I agree, it is rather beautiful. (Though I've only ever seen glimpses of it so far.)

It looks very like the Millennium Bridge between Newcastle & Gateshead - is it a clone of that one?
Love dance, will travel
Not really - in fact not at all when you see them from a raised elevation! First of all it's a road bridge, also the supporting arch starts on one side of the road and ends on the other (so in a way it's doubly squint). Finally it's fixed - the Gateshead Millennium Bridge can tilt up to allow boats through.

Ironic you should say that, though. There were plans recently to build a pedestrian bridge further upstream on the Clyde - which were cancelled in part because it looked like a clone of the Tyne 'eyelid'.

The squinty bridge is a fantastic new bridge.Having the pleasure to be there on the opening night and using it every now and then. Also lovely lit up at night, joining the science centre and the secc.
It is very squinty in more than one way. Top to bottom and side to side.
