    Re: 2nd/3rd/4th November – London

Well, I know its not London, but I went to Beetson Nottingham last night for the first time.

I had a lovely night, the music was a varied mix as was the dancers.

I had a fab surprise to find Erica....of TallGuyNiceShoes toe sucking fame there,

    also

SteveBrace for our Sunday Bromsgrove 't' dance turned up.

But the biggest surprise was a young man with a trilby on, obviously a 'good dancer' after dancing I asked his name his reply 'Jamie'

Needless to say I had him several times and he has now been officially broken in by 'The Fletch' I was saving him for Camber but just couldn't resist, and yes he is legal.

Well 'Jamie' I can now see what all the girls were raving about.....watch this space.

Me and BARMPOT went clubbing in Nottingham after, we found some small 'pub thingy' and OMG they were playing 'skinhead moonstomp' and 'mirror in the bathroom' by my old chums 'The Beat'

    Good night all round

Well I hadn't decided to following him out of Notts, he took me down two one way streets ......the wrong way... .and two dead ends.. ..at that point I had to say see ya! and speed off. his name is so him.

I wasn't going to go but, while watching "Have I got news for you", my feet were twitching.
I was pleasantly surprised to see you there, even if we didn't manage a dance. After the previous week there (i really didn't enjoy a lot of the music) , i was a bit concerned it would be another disappointing evening. Thankfully i was wrong. Roger played some great music, (a few weird and wonderful tracks from Nigel though) but all in all a great night with lots of good men and space to dance.

I went to a great firework display and then popped along to Cheshunt. I must have stunk of bonfire and burgers.

Music was brilliant as usual - thank you Robin

Had some great dances too even though the floor was sprinkled in talc.

I tried to go out last night, but it seemed things were against me! Unfortunately my journey to Greenwich involves going very close to two major firework displays! As a result the traffic was awful so I decided that I would turn around and go back home as there would be little point in sitting in it as I would not have much time to dance if I ever got to the venue!

Huge thank you to Roger and Nigel who both played great music

Had some brilliant dances - thank you all for making it such a great night

RobD got his own back - now I understand

Didn't make it out to Woking - was too sleep deprived and went to bed early

    How was Woking??

    But I don't...?

It was a good night, despite those people that didn't dance with me

Last night was, erm, different! Went to a soul/disco night, not really my style of music, but plenty that's good for MJ/WCS, it certainly brings the punters in, and there were some seriously weird people there But still had some good dances on a fab floor.

Sheepman - it would have been an even better night if we had danced!

Firstly, there were a few less people than the times I have been recently. This meant there was at least a bit of room to dance. Excellent.

Big thanks to Roger Chin and Nigel for the music. I thought Roger especially played some excellent tracks. A real mix of pretty much everything.

I wonder if I went to a different Hipsters to everyone else? I had an OK night and some nice dances but I thought the music was no better (nor worse, I hadn't been of the opinion that the previous week was particularly poor) than the previous Friday. There were fewer people than at some other Hipster's nights I have attended but I still felt very constrained on the floor and didn't find a huge amount of room to dance. Perhaps it was different on the other side of the hall?

The music was briliant over at the west side

It is funny though how different people see the same night!

And I quite enjoyed the music on that Friday - the Halloween one. Lots of variation, some club-y, some tango-y, it worked fine for me.

Another example of how "what a few people on the Forum say" is not "real life"

You shouldn't hold the girls so close then!

So which is not real then? Yours and Robs view or Mine and Pauls ? It's just individual opinions. So is it better that nobody gives an opinion at all?

Nothing's "real", you're all just illusions.

But, OK, it's better to back up opinions with some detail, than to say (for example) "Music was great" or "music was rubbish".

I'm a big fan of posting review comments, but they've got to be credible, otherwise they're just whinges / luvvie posts.

Strangely enough DJs are no better at mind reading than most other people. A good DJ should be trying to please the majority, because no way can they achieve 100% satisfaction.

In some ways people are becoming accustomed to having dedicated rooms for their favourite style of music - in a general hall this very difficult to do.

What can help is if you request what you DO WANT, especially with artists and title tracks. Then you can influence what music is played - comments like this is rubbish ( even when the floor is not empty - which means that some people are enjoying the music ) does not help the DJ.

Paul - I think that the acoustics on the west side is better - don't tell everyone or you won't have enough room to dance!
