    Corporate Dance Events

It always amazes me at work how few people have ever heard of jive/ceroc but do say what that ‘stuff’ on tele

We at my company have golf weekends , five a side tournaments and even Dragon Boat racing

I was speaking to a few colleagues who would be well up for a corporate dance event

Whether this is a weekend at a hotel or a private room hired for the night with dance lessons (doesn’t have to be jive)

Age range probably more 20s and 30s rather then 40s and 50s. Numbers 30 or 40 ? nearly all raw beginners. They would want food and drink as well

Anyone know if anyone does this ?

For me we are talking about a city of london location (with 10 miles)

I'm sure that Ceroc would do it if you approached them. It's certainly been done a few times in Scotland.

I think most franchisees are set up to do this. We did several Corporate Xmas parties in the past, and a few weddings aswell. Fairly simple to set-up if you've got a good crew behind you. From a franchisee perspective its good publicity and you can make good money

You might consider something a bit swingy - I know that Graeme & Ann do stuff like this from time to time (www.hoppinmad.co.uk) or if your corporate boys feel flush, how about Ryan and Jenny?

There's a Ceroc Demo Team as well, isn't there? Travelling around giving, err, demos?

Probably with lots of bouncing, but what the hell.

thinks they have a few bob

Will talk to others as well and see what the out come is

    I have a new business idea !!

Given they city is due to give out £18 billion in bonuses this year

And it's not just the traders and frontline staff who benefit, because most of the 350,000 City employees get some kind of bonus. (according to the BBC !)

Half these people spend £3,000 on wine at meal times (according to the Daily Mail)

So me thinks if I give out 1000 cards at Bank station aimed at coporate dancing ill make a mint to tap into this mountain of cash that is around in the city

In 2009 when they start jumping from roof tops a smart exit me thinks

They just didn't tell you. It's a conspiracy to keep you in the dark. Forever. Just you.
    But don't feel paranoid.

Seriously, I think most corporate events are arranged by specialist agencies, so that's presumably where the main market is - it's not really something to tell the normal punter.

So my business idea is up the swanny then ??

Standard ceroc punter that bemoans paying a £1 for water at a London venues v your rich city boys who spend £84,000 on some good wine for a meal

I’ve another idea a chill out some where you can go lay on a bed for an hour in the middle of the city , say £250 an hour ?

Cant believe I was the only one in the whole of ceroc that had never heard that ceroc did that. rep on the way or £10,000 makes no odds

Strangely enough, you may find competition for the "rich City pound" from other people who also thought it was a good idea to fleece them for all they're worth.

Ceroc does indeed do these kinds of events, and often - in fact I've just got back from teaching at one of them. You need to contact Christine Vidal via the Ceroc HQ if you're interested in arranging something.

Good to hear Stewart that you work with easy going colleagues who like the idea of a dance event. I suspect though that most HR departments would run a mile at the prospect of physical intimacy between employees. They would see it as too risky in these PC days. I also wonder whether many testosterone fueled, alpha male city boys would be even less inclined to take to the floor and risk demeaning themselves than your average male punter.

Sorry to **** on the parade-pissing (if you see what I mean) but neither of these things is actually an issue.

Happy for you to disagree, but why do you think there is no issue here? If there were much of a market for this in the square mile, then surely there would already have been many such events.

I believe your question has already been answered:

Phil Roberts does such events most weekends. He has some arrangements with National organisations and arranges some events outside the Ceroc Central area.

    Re: Corporate Dance Events

Think the main prob is not whether these events are available...but I know in my office all the guys go "No I don't do dancing" or " well maybe after a few pints" when guys generally lose all coordination and think that partner dancing means groping the young secretary! (for evidence on this check any night club with alcohol fuelled men!) But hey if it works go for it!
