    Clubbing

Not seal's and women but night clubs.

Because we are a bit more mature in general I was just wondering how many forumers actually consider going to a club as a night out now.

I go to very specific nights in various clubs around the country because of my passion for house and soul music.

I know there arn't to many people in general that go to this type of night anyway but it is becoming more noticable that there is an older age group at these nights. A bit like the northern soul scene.

I know that a lot of clubs are struggling that put more specialist nights on just wondering what people from outside of the specific dance music scene thought.

I know there is a multitude of musical tastes but look at it from the point of view that if there was a 30+ night club which was classy and didn't revolve around how much drink and your pulling power and was actually about the music and the people.

Is this where Ceroc has taken over ?

Since starting dancing my clubbing has tailed off a bit, but that's because of the demands on my time.
To be honest, I mostly frequent "spit 'n' sawdust" clubs anyway because there's very little posing and proving your pulling power at those clubs. You just get a wide variety of people who're just out to dance and have a good time.

I like the Waterfront for it's unpretentious atmosphere. Owens bar and the Mustard lounge aren't too bad
Tried Lava, Ignite and Mercy, but got fed up with the naff chart music, chavs and ridiculous drink prices.

I picked 'Never' although I did happen to go to one just a few months ago - but that was only because (strangely) they had a live band playing there that I like to go and see. So as I didn't go there to go 'clubbing' I don't really count it!

I put never too. I have occasionally eg on a hen night, gone somewhere with mates. But - and I know I'm going to sound such an old fuddy duddy but do I care? - they're generally too smoky, music volume too high, and queues at bars too long etc to make me want to bother.

    Re: Clubbing

On the very rare occasion that I venture into a 'club', I can still really enjoy it... I still love the house/rave stuff, even though I am probably too old to go in there... There is something about the music that I can really get lost in..

I Love to bounce around with the youngsters.. and funnily enough the volume isnt too much of a problem.. I guess when you are in the right mood, it doesnt matter..

I have a couple of muggle friends that like nothing better than drinking, dancing til the early hours and then passing out with exhaustion.. kinda sounds familiar to our dance scene... (I just dont bother with the drinking bit unless its a weekender )

It is very far and few between, but if I get the chance to go for it... I do..

Unfortunately that's not how hearing works - you just don't notice it because you're having too much fun. (Or it could be that you have already some hearing damage, but hope not!)

I wouldn't have noticed if I didn't have someone close to me who has serious hearing related problems (nothing to do with loud music) and I've become much more aware of various issues since then. And discovered how many friends and accquaintances have hearing damage as a result of loud music (yes, some from clubs - one has tinnitus from one night at a local club and now protect their ears when at a club, regardless of how it looks). Most hearing damage and loss is irreversible, and some happens inevitably with age, so I want to protect my hearing while I can.

OK, I'll stop being sensible and serious, I really don't want to spoil people's fun.

It's like the alcohol thing, I think - people don't "get used to holding their drink", they just develop a tolerance by damaging their liver enough so that it takes more of the drug to take effect,

I go out every so often ('when my mates drag me out') and leap around like an idiot. Often both the club and the music are cack, but you get the odd gem that's worth headbanging to.

I'm actually a lot more confident dancing alone than I am doing partner dancing - no pressure.

I go out occasionally either with my mum (shes still young enough for clubbin and comes in handy) or my friends.
I love nothing more than boogieing my bum off, and its refreshing change of music, you just couldn't ceroc to some of those songs. Unfortunalty it takes me the rest of the weekend to recover.

    Re: Clubbing

Since I discovered dancing I only go clubbing when I visit my daughter in London, she lives right in the heart of London near Marble Arch, but I do have a great time with her and her friends as she is a model and so when I go with her we get in for free as she is on guest lists when they want pretty girls as I would not pay them prices. Then the other side of the corn I go to the countryside to stay with my other daughter who has a cottage.

    Re: Clubbing

My hubby and his ceroc buddy have been clubbing/drinking together a few times but they end up dancing with each other because they cannot get non-ceroc girls to dance with them...and some of the refusals have been appalling!!!!
