The dangers of believing in the improbable...

For those of you who are easily persuasible, try this site. You may see what happens to the mental faculties of people who never actually use them...

For those of you with a cynical bent like mine - think of it as an early forerunner of South Park...

Scientists never believe in things that are untrue and/or dangerous.

Yep. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing, while a closed mind begets a closed heart, and a closed life.

Beware knee-jerk negativity, for it will be thy doom when the kittens bark in the dead of night.

The duck quacks over the open grave, while the frogs celebrate the sunlight.

This may surprise you coming from a practising Christian, Barry, but I agree totally. This stuff comes from the ultra-fundamentalists, with whom most of us would not want to be associated.

You might like this site as well if you're into that sort of thing.

Worry not; you'll get your turn!! Any good strategist picks off the easier targets first.

Is it just me, or does anyone else find this vaguely threatening?

It's OK. He's announced his intentions now - declared war, if you will. Let's get him FIRST, while there's still more of us than there is of him (any good strategist also knows the value of a pre-emptive strike)

And here was I trying to be reasonable and rational. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to accept that you have a chip on your shoulder when it comes to those of us with religious beliefs. Fire away if it makes you happy, but you'll have to forgive me if I don't want to indulge you by replying.

Not so much threatening as repetitive. Hopefully he'll get sick of his little vendetta against religions and spirituality at some point.

It seems to me he's worse than the fundamentalists he so vehemently dislikes, trying to impose his own views on others all the time.

No firing today. I was being light-hearted. You can tell, 'cos I hardly ever use Smileys, and never when I'm being serious...

I'll remember the 'chip on the shoulder' bit though.

    Hur.

Today's assignment, Baruch. 250 words on the difference between 'vigorously asserting a point of view' and 'imposing those views on others'.

You ever see me barring the door to your church? Barracking customers of an SPCK bookshop?

The most I would do is disestablish the church. I'm b*ggered if I can see a good reason why 'lords spiritual' should sit in government.

But today, I'm mellow. Worship away!

I can't recall a time when any fundamentalists have imposed their views upon me. Generally they all just vigorously and tediously assert their point of view in inappropriate places.

Hmm... That sounds familiar... I'm sure I've come across someone like that... Hmm...

Well clearly you didn't think carefully enough. Have another go, I bet you can do it if you try.

    To the neg rep poster:

This thread isn't a 'slagging off religion' thread. See if you can spot the difference.

Hint: check whether the attitudes of the guy whose site is linked in my first post corresponds with anything you would call 'religion'. Baruch pointed this out.

It's not my job to prove your incorrect beliefs.
