TV programme - Diet on the dance floor
I'm not sure if anyone's seen it but there's a new programme on Living TV
Its basically the same format as Strictly Come Dancing but taking overweight people (although IMO none of them are that bad but I suppose in the proffesional dance world, they'd been seen as obese :rolleyes:) and partnering them up with professional (b listed dancers) and as well as being judged on there dancing skill each week, they're also judged on their fitness and diet progress too!
Its not great TV but its just nice to see more people being introduced into partner dancing!
Judges include Karen Hardy and Mathew Cutler

Yes - I saw a bit of it last week - the middle of one programme - so my comments are limited to a 10min vignette. My impression was that Karen and Matthew are far better at dancing than judging and making comments. I sensed they were just trying a tad too hard to be in that Len-Craig slightly 'tough' mode.
Having said that, Karen is my favourite female (professional) dancer - so just to see her is a plus :awe: . And big respect as always to Matt. - hard work, determination and...........all the rest.

I didn't see it last week, (the first one) but I think they may have toned it down this week, as they appeared to be 'quite nice' about everyone ;)

A few years ago it was all 'do up your house' or ' antiques in the attic' types of programmes, at the moment its all loosing weight and dancing, which is fab for me, having lost 5st 7lb and it was diet and dancing that did it for me looks like I could be flavour of the month for a short time. :clap:
i'v just done an interviwe with 'You' mag mail on Sunday, the photo shoot is next week, and 'Top Sante' magazine (with slimming world) :clap:
Looks likly I could be on a couple of chat shows. :waycool:
Personally I think when the T&S episode with her dancing might help, depending on how it looks. :rolleyes:

According to a famous book written about fame, you have to re invent your image every 16 months.
This is what celebrities do to stay in the spotlight.
Even Madonna has to.

I saw just one episode of the show - it is horrendous. I had to run to the kitchen afterwards to rinse my eyes out with bleach.
It looks like the whole thing has been filmed and produced for about £150. Filmed in a dreary hall with absolutely no 'wow' factor. No host or hostess and an audience that looks like it is made up entirely of friends and family of the 'dancers'. Even the desk the judges sit behind looks like an MDF abomination that's been knocked together as a year ten wood work project. Actually that's not fair - I'm sure the kids could put some more imagination into the thing.
See I thought when I saw it in the TV guide, that it should appeal to a dancer, because it is about dancing. But the poor chunky monkey's can't dance (as they're learning - in fact they are not even learning to dance - just step through a set routine), and their 'pro' partners are.. how do you put this kindly... not exactly top of the bill at the Tower Ballroom. So it's not really about dancing in the way that Strictly is, it's about.. well... it's about.... ummm... it's about.... sort of dressing overweight people in tangerine and making them lift each other off the ground with backing music.
At the end they were trying to build the tension. Shooting just the judges faces as they pointed to the pictures of who they wanted to keep. But by that time there wasn't any hope of tension, as I was bored to tears with the whole lot of them and couldn't have given a monkey's flying fart who got 'eliminated'.
The whole thing had the feel of a Butlins talent show - with a slightly lower budget. Shame on you Matthew Cutler and Karen Hardy... you have officially sold out! Just watching it made me feel slightly dirty.
I won't be watching it again, I would rather extract my own gall bladder with a rusty oyster spoon, whilst wearing boxing gloves.

It's a new book by PR guru, Mark Borkowski called "The Fame Formula"
Borkowski says "I don't think there was a formula until I wrote it, (the book) but look at Madonna. Looks at celebs' cuttings and you'll see a pattern - there's an intuitive need to reconnect with the public after 15 months."
