I'm sorry to hear about Froggy dying so young :tears:
He used to DJ around the local clubs when I lived in Stanmore.
I've done a search on him and there's some pictures of him with a fine mane of hair. In my memory his long hair was always straggly and wet. He must have put so much energy into his work he was probably sweating buckets.
We have a well known soul DJ, "King Jerry" who is a local DJ in Brighton and loved by one and all. I also remember him from the '70s. Over the last few years I've had the honour of sharing the decks with him at Soul & Motown nights. He always has the lastest "find" to show me. I know his set really well now and can avoid playing what he's got planned - I can nearly do his voice too
A few years ago there was a confusing obituary in the local paper and quite a few people thought Jerry had died and turned up to some other guy's funeral.

Blimey, when did this morph into the "Old gits reminiscing" thread?

I did suggest to the lovely moderator Lory that this thread be split as I like hearing stories about weekenders from the past but it's not related to the original thread.
Lory!! Pull yer finger out, love!!:D

Be patient. I've done half but my client has turned up, so i'll have to tidy it up a bit more later
Re: Old gits reminiscing about past weekenders
MOD NOTE I've left a couple of posts in 'both' places, as I think they're relevant to both ;)

Quite right, the forum is much more important, your client will just have to wait to be tidied up a bit more.

Flippin' 'eck, DT, I didn't even learn to dance until I was 47 but I still managed a free breakfast at a fair few weekenders. I was out of my tree on adrenalin most of the time. 'Course, I'm way past it now.

I did get the odd laceration at the points of contact. Nothing that needed stitches - somewhere in the loft there's a few pictures of the plasters after they were applied
