Hi Amy
I am thinking about making it down for the saturday. It depends on If I can convince my dance partner . She has been away for a few weeks so I have been missing my fix. I will have to dance wherever she is i'm afraid.

All she actually needs to do is go Here (www.theaa.com)
Put in her postcode and then put in Lodge Road Daventry it will then give the route.

Or goto Halfords buy TomTom :D

I read somewhere that it is Bugsy Malone themed, quite new to Daventry freestyles - is this also the dress code - flapper dresses and the like, and do people usually make the effort.

Any tips, gratefully received. Hope to see you all there. x

Hi folks. Yet another main event in the world of modern jive which we hope will meet everyones expectations. Personal regret in missing the Hippodrome party last night in favour of planning tonights event.

I figure 2 heads are better than 1 so we have invited down from Revolution Dance the loveable DJ Becky. She's the girl who kicked my ass night after night during our recent holiday in Cuba. As one of the the rare few who is more dedicated to the cause than myself, I look forward to hearing her break new ground with her national debut.

We aim for an 8.30 start with touches of West Coast Swing leading towards a Jango set from 10-11pm. Then it's down to business with the very best of Blues and Latin till at least 3am.

Peace out.

It will suprise no-one to learn I had a FANTASTIC night at Daventry, as I always do.

5 or so hours of Marc's music, a dark room (don't be predictable Cruella) and lots of lovely ladies - I had some seriously  and :yum: dances . Such a shame that it's another 3 months to the next one. I really think Daventry might be able to sustain a monthly night in the Saxon suite with Marc playing that kind of stuff. It seems to me that with each successive one, more and more people are willing to come through from the main room (and not just when the main room closes).

Thanks to MsFab for enjoying/enduring a tango/jango dance with me.

My only disappointment was not hearing Marc announce when the last song was playing. I had asked someone to save the last dance for me so when the lights went up I had to go find her and apologise. We did then dance to the playout track but it's never the same when dancing with the lights up, is it?

Such a shame that it's another 3 months to the next one. I really think Daventry might be able to sustain a monthly night in the Saxon suite with Marc playing that kind of stuff.

:yeah: I hear the next one is at Christmas - and I'll be in Somerset doing family stuff. Pah!

My only disappointment was not hearing Marc announce when the last song was playing. I had asked someone to save the last dance for me so when the lights went up I had to go find her and apologise.

Loved our dance, by the way....

I was wondering who you were and this line [and apologising to people for my rubbish dancing] in your profile gave you away immediately

Yes, I was rather amused at being ticked off for this, by you - whilst I was dancing with another man....

Daventry evening.

Well Daventry is still the best Freestyle I have ever been to. :worthy:

As usually I had some lovely dances, I had a fab dance with Fred in the wheelchair as I came of the stage, from winning my Terry's chocolate orange,
by the way did I tell you I won a chocolate orange.:D

Lovely dances with Centralex and DD+, Dee you looked wonderful.:flower:

Well, done Alex on completing your dare even if you weren't prepared.

Best dances of the evening go to CrisA

A big thank you to Marc and Rachel for putting me up.

Best laugh, BARMPOT dropping his trouser to reveal what he had been dancing in all night, a Peach, satin posing pouch, I wonder if that's why he wiggles about so much when he is dancing, it was like a cheese wire.

I think he needs to go shopping with jiveaddicted, nice pants BTW :waycool:

Daventry 't'

Not many people there, but it was good, lovely music by Marc and Rob ........and not forgetting Becky :worthy:

I had a dance with a guy that was obviously a beginner, but he was holding his own, when I sat down I was told he was blind, and had only been dancing for 6 weeks, what an amazing guy, I will be looking out for him again, takes guts.:respect:

The day was chilled and laid back, with a good atmosphere.

i'm not sure I can make the 29th is Maddy's birthday :tears:

Footnote: the Daventry floor (in the Saxon suite which was the blues room) is at last back to its old slippy self  . We had been sufering for several weeks with it being horribly sticky and thus endangering the worlds supply of talc. powder. It finally got polished up for the weekender and is back to being a pleasure to dance on again.

I also gather that the whole venue is going to have a fairly major refurbishment sometime this winter so by the time the next weekender comes round (some time in the Spring I guess) the place will have had a facelift and will have improved facillities
