View Full Version : My PC wants to deafen me...

So every night, when I leave work, I put my computer to sleep (it takes ages to boot, but energy-saving is a Good Thing)

Then I get in in the morning, start to get myself into a kind of programming trance... put on my headphones and pick something good on iTunes or Pandora....

And get my head blasted off AGAIN because I've forgotten that every time the computer goes to sleep, it wakes up with the volume turned right up

Is this normal? Or does it hate me? Anyone know how to stop it?

when you say you put your PC to sleep and then talk about energy saving.. is it just hibernating or is it actually switched off??

I can't say I've ever had that problem .. either with my PC awakening from sleep mode and/or powering up from cold. if my system volume is set it tends to stay set where I put it. I'll ask around the department here to hear if anyone has had similar problems.

Pete.. (also in the midst of a Programmer trance!)

Hibernating. If I turn it off, the volume's fine - I'm just impatient, and it takes a good five minutes in the morning to boot up, log into the network, get all apps started etc. If I just hit the sleep button, I can just pick up the next day from where I left off... just slightly more deaf :tears:

You'll probably learn. By the 50th time. Some people are just slower than others! :flower:

hmm i think my laptop did that to me once - went into hibernate with winamp playing and started it up the next morning where it procedeed to play Frank Sinatra full volume - and i couldnt do anything until it finished booting up :)

at least it wasnt Barbie Girl or something :)
