To Bill, Fran and Denise for their 1st place in the double trouble.

And to Wendy for her second place in the Lucky Dip (he sure got lucky, didn't he Wendy!!) ;)

Congratulations also to the team cabaret. Who may not have made it into the final, but put on an excellent display, and can feel justifiably proud of what they did.....

And congratulations also to everyone else who entered, and even who just attended the event. Was nice to see you all again, and I can't wait until the 12th July in Glasgow now :D

Just to add my words of congratulations to Bill, Fran and Denise, looked good in the final and deserved to win.

Also congratulations to Wendy for a wonderfully hammed up effort in the final of the lucky dip, certainly hope that you dance in that manner with me in the future:D

Also well done to Jayne for making the final of the lucky dip and to Sherwin and Denise for making the semi's of the intermediate and being in my opinion a touch unlucky to not make the final 5.

Huge Congratulations to all that competed in the Champs.

Also a big thank you to the strange woman I met in the lucky dip, think her name was Wendy - hehe

Gratz Wendy, I had loads of fun, and hopefully made some new highland friends too :)

Sorry I missed you guys,
Really sick we couldn’t make it, first one we’ve missed in a few years!
Just trying to pick up the results, to see who did what & it sounds like Bill Fran & Denise had a fantastic day, with a well deserved win, whilst Wendy was still turning it on, congratulations.
Well done to everyone who entered, no doubt showing Scotland is still the place to dance.
Those Southerners keep sneaking in & picking up the odd prize though! Well done Clayton & Janine, Lily & Amir.
Does anybody know the other results?
Hope to see some of you next week at Rock Bottoms.

Thanks to Sheena, Wendy, Heather, Chicklet and everyone else I had the pleasure of dancing with last night.

You were all fab as usual, great array of outfits sheena

Wendy, you were even more fab than I was told, sorry for kicking you! I will try and keep quiet about you knowing all the breaks in a certain song!! :D

Franck ,what can I say, the kilt was a revelation...

One dissapointment for the day! Not meeting the famous Mr Bill 'better than chocolate' Foreman, Maybe when I venture to the next Aberdeen party night.. I can get some tips::wink:

Thanks to whichever one of you managed to persuade my lovely wife, that coming to Scotland while 6 months preganant is a good idea:waycool:

Take care all and see yoou soon

I really enjoyed watching some of the dancers this year - thought Lilly and Amir danced beautifully in the open and really enjoyed clayton and jeneanes caberet and open performance.

The bouncer on the door must have been tired ! he was on duty for over 12 hours - saw us all in and saw us all out!

I want to add my congratulations - to Bill, Fran and Denise, to Wendy, Heather and to the Scottish team. You were all fantastic - and it was wonderful to meet up with you Wendy, Sheena, Heather, Bill and Fran (and some others but too briefly to remember all the names now). I have to add my admiration for Wendy's superb turn in the Lucky Dip final - your placing was so well deserved. And watch out Jimmynipples - I shall be keeping an eye out for you in London to grab you for a dance, you were great! And as a connoisseuse of men in outrageous clothing, I greatly admired your cheeky shirt!

Other non-Scot Forum members were equally mind-blowing - the unparellelled Debster with Hillel in their showcase and in Advanced - a deserved win!! :waycool: And Stevie Wong - I can't wait for the video to see your performance in the final (being otherwise engaged at the time!). The fantastic Will, the wonderful Tramp, the dashing Dale, Lily and Amir who were so graceful and so compelling. I know I have missed people out - everyone deserves a big congratulations.

And now to the apologies - I'm so sorry that I didn't get to dance with any of you :tears: Especially Franck and Bill and David from Nottingham (who have previously whetted my appetite! ). I wanted to dance with so many of you - but I have to admit that I was so wrecked by the time the prizes had been announced, that I could barely stand. Even the warm glow of getting so far wasn't enough to carry me through to midnight. So I can only hope my next opportunity won't be too long in the future... :sorry

Huge congratulations to Bill, Fran and Denise for winning the double trouble (and sincere apologies for not making a whole lot more noise - we couldn't make out a word the compere was saying and thought they had been placed 2nd - much handclapping followed along with many mutterings of "they were clearly robbed!!!!!" - and then when he moved on to the Intermediate category realised they had, in fact WON :D )
To Wendy - fab! Didn't see your performance in the final - but the semi was awesome:waycool:
Well done Jayne too - for the lucky dip and the cabaret.
Heather and Dale - a brilliant performance!
Sherwin and Denise - unlucky not to make the final in my opinion.
Lily and Amir - it was a pleasure to watch you dancing (love the frock Lily!) - and that first arial move in the final was truly fantastic
Ben and Hollie - fantastic! Can't believe they weren't placed:tears:
Debstar and Hillel - totally fab showcase - ooooh those shoes!
Stevie Wong and Natasha! - wow!

Feeling exhausted tonight, but so proud of everyone from Scotland (and all our friends on and off the Forum) who danced their socks off over the week-end and did so well in just about every category!

I won't repeat all the well done / congrats, but I agree with all the above comments... The team Cabaret was fantastic, so much fun and sexy
Also special mention for Dan and Emma, who had a ball in the Intermediate category and deserved a prized for the funkiest costumes :waycool: even putting Steve Wong's bacofoil shirt in the shade

Wow... fantastic week-end all round, I just wish I had had more time to dance with everyone (sorry Divissima, Lily, Rachel and everyone else I missed, next time, I will make good on my promises...)

Cheers from a (very) sleepy

Franck.

Bill

Thanks for all the positive comments and agree with what's been said so far.

Fran and I had the pleasure of staying with Lily and David and I thought Lily and Amir danced wonderfully - what poise and elegance !!!:D

Thought Clayton and Jenine danced as well as I've seen them and the Scottish team did us proud. A wonderful performance from Wendy and from Jayne reaching the final of the lucky dip but everyone who ventured south did all the Scottish clubs really proud.

I don't know if Denise's accidental brush against my goolies helped but it certainly took my mind off the final for a few seconds....  ..and she seems like such a nice innocent girl !

My only regret is I didn't get very many freestyle dances and it was only after about 11.00 that I really got on to the floor. Thanks also to Carolyn (?sp) my lucky dip partner and apologies for not getting you through to another round :sorry

But another good day for the Scots and congrats to everyone ( Scots, Aussies and those from down south ! ) who won or just had fun. And finally thanks very much to my two lovely and very wonderful double trouble partners. As Fran said, I managed to follow them some of the time !:na:

Thanks Steve ;) Well, we'll see what we can do! Any idea when the next heat of the Jive Masters is? Might need to check out the competition!

Debstar and Hillel - totally fab showcase - ooooh those shoes!

Thanks Sheena! And everyone else, especially for the fantastic support during the showcase. It really made a difference. :) It was so much easier to give it our best shot when we could feel all the good vibes from the crowd. You guys are great!
(re: the shoes - You should have seen me at rehearsal in a studio with halogen lights! The sparkle off the shoes was so intense I couldn't take my eyes off my feet! What Hillel had to put up with...poor guy ;))

Sorry I didn't get to socialise with everyone, I was rather preoccupied with the whole event. I so lost track of time. But I did cheer, even when the presenter mentioned the forum - although from the opposite end of the room and found I was surrounded by silence and stunned clueless southern types... oh well.

Congratulations to all the competitors... I'm really looking forward to the video and seeing so much of the day that I missed. I did see Divissima and TwK dancing their socks off - well done!! (It'll be your turn to be the Pan-Pacific Ten-Dance Champions soon I'm sure). I loved Clayton & Janine, the other Aussies Debbie, Ben, Nicky etc, and of course Amir and Lily (who were really too beautiful to fit into this event!). Great cabarets and showcases too... so much great work from so many people...
Hugs & kisses all around!

What a wonderful day!!!

Thank you, congratulations and incredibly well done to everybody who completed for making it such a great spectacle for those of us who were watching in awe. I do hope you all enjoyed doing it even half as much as I enjoyed sitting open-mouthed trying to take it all in.

Have to mention a few special highlights - it was sooo great to see all the lovely people I'm getting to know these days do so well in all the categories - you all know who you are!!

EXTRA special mention has got to go to Wiggly Wendy!!!
LUCY IN THE SKY WITH TEN CARAT DIAMONDS!!!!:D :D

I think Graham caught me wiping my tear of joy during the final - hope he told you!! You were on FIRE babe!!!!

And the Cabaret team, I know how much effort went into ALL aspects of putting that together and I felt sooo thrilled that there were all these great people I'm getting to know and love doing something so spectacular. I really truly hope that after all the hard work, when it came to it you all enjoyed doing it as much as I (and the other thousand odd people of course!!) enjoyed watching it. Ceroc Scotland has so much to be proud of in you all!!!!

In the advanced I couldn't take my eyes off the couple in the graffitti jeans (Ben and Hollie??) Loved the laid back sexiness of their style and look forward to seeing them again soon.

Bill and Fran and Denise you were stunning and I caught myself remembering a BTC post with a whisper of bus passes, pipe and slippers (well retiring from London at least) and if that does turn out to be the casethen what a high to go out on!!!( This actually prompted another tear, quite a soppy soul really!)

So thanks again to all the competitors for making it such a spectacle to watch, all the lovely men (known and mystery)
that I was lucky enough to dance with and to everyone who doesn't fall into either of those categories for helping to create such a great atmosphere!!!

Cx

CONGRATULATIONS TO TEAM CARNIVAL!!!!!

I just wanted to say well done and a HUGE thank you to all the people in the Carnival team. What a team! You've all been fantastic to work with and it's been a great experience! You all made such an effort to make it work and I really appreciate it -thank you.

Once again, special thanks to Heather for those fantastic outfits! Boy do those skirts fly!!!

And the reaction we got from the crowd was great - that alone makes the past four months worthwhile! So thank you to our supporters!

Huge thank you and hugs also to the two reserves - Brady and Hannah - we couldn't have done it without you!

There are so many other people who have helped out along the way with music, videos, costumes, halls, choreography and goodness know what else - far too many people to mention without turning into an Oscar acceptance speech! You know who you are so many thanks to you also!

Thank you and a hug for all the team... (i'd put one in for each of you but the software isn't happy with that...)

I just have to add my congratulations to everyone. I'm still on a high and buzzing from Sunday, and I didn't even compete! I admire anyone who has the courage to enter a competition like that, and I think you were all brilliant. It was fantastic to have so many more familiar names and faces to look out for and cheer on.

Huge congratulations to all those who were placed, and also to those who, on another day, might well have been up there on the winners' podium.

I wasn't going to name any names, but I just can't resist a few. Very top of my list are Lily and Amir who were breathtaking. I could barely take my eyes off them for a second and, in my mind, they blew any competition way out of the water. Nothing less than total perfection!

Steve - you and Laili also looked fantastic. (Laili's another of my 'I wanna be her' dancers - and she's such a lovely person with it.) I was stunned you weren't in the final ... But I do hope your knee gets better soon, Steve. Listen to me - REST IT!!!

Also in the Open, I just loved Nina - she's an incredible dancer, but to dance comically like that was sheer brilliance.

Debs and Hillel - a thoroughly deserved win, I was delighted, particularly after seeing Debs with Steve in the Chigwell Grand Masters and seeing what she was capable of - Wow!!!

Wendy. Oh Wendy! Amazing! Watched you closely in the final and you were just soooo sexy (I want lessons!!) and fun and innovative and looked great with your partner. You looked as if you'd been dancing together for years. I was totally convinced that you deserved to win outright. (I'll keep an ear out for spare Camber tickets - I'd love to see you there!)

Bill, Fran and Denise - fantastic again! You may remember that I'm not particularly a fan of double trouble, but you all danced so beautifully. How on earth do you all manage to stay so modest with ability like that???

Sherwin and Denise - loved watching you both in the intermediate - I kept pointing you out to Marc, 'aren't they fantastic, etc etc etc ...!' In my opinion, you should have at LEAST got to the final. Sherwin, thank you so much for the dances afterwards - you make it all so easy. Please won't you consider moving down to the Midlands? Or at least come and visit - I hear Northampton's a nice place for a holiday ...

Steve Wong - Congratulations - you and your partner looked really good together - can't wait to watch you again on the video. And Greg, who came 3rd - don't know if you're on the forum - I thought your performance was stunning - so cool and effortless, full of understated elegance - both you and your partner. And your wife deserves a medal for the costumes. Your dancing caught my attention long before I recognised who you were in that hat.

Clayton and Janine - as ever, amazing! I just love their showcases so much. They always seem to have something extra that no-one else does - on top of all the perfect moves, it's the way they use the floor, and are so expressive with faces as well as bodies, like actors telling a story - you just get so drawn in and involved.

Team cabaret - my favourites were Latin Lover and Carnival - both very clever in musicality and shapes/patterns - really exciting to watch. Great dancing by everyone!

Big disappointment of the day - not getting my dance with Franck! Was sooo looking forward to all those combs. One day, VERY SOON, I hope, Franck!

And Chicklet and everyone else I didn't get to meet - such a shame - and Emma, who I didn't see all day long inside the venue - hope we can meet up again soon.

Finally, (I guess I really must stop now) - Graham and Will, so pleased to see you both and get to dance with you. Thank you!

And a huge thank you to Janet and Wendy for giving Marc such fantastic dances that he's now convinced we have to get up to Scotland in the Very Near Future. Yessss!!!!

Wow…. another great dancing weekend away … my feet and knees, and throat have just about recovered from all the dancing and cheering! The caberets and spotlights were superb. It was brilliant to cheer everyone on and see so many people enjoying dancing!

Special CONGRATULATIONS to Bill, Fran and Denise on winning DT. WOO-HOO!!!!! I was so happy for you guys. Well done to Wendy in coming second with Lucky Dip you looked like you were having a ball! Well done Jayne for being in the Lucky Dip final and also for well done on choreographing the excellent caberet team CARNIVAL. Sheena + Des, Heather + Dale did brilliantly. No one would have known that you guys had not danced together before. Sherwin and Denise …. you both danced brilliantly as always. Loved the impromptu hair-flick manoeuvre and your subsequent laughter De! Also, well done to Stevie Wong and Natasha who looked brilliant.

Some sensational and inspiring dancing. All the couples have already been mentioned so won’t repeat them but I really really enjoyed watching Lily & Amir, Debster & Hillal, Janine & Clayton, Popeye and Olive, Ben and Hollie, Stevie and Natasha, Mr Tramp and Laili, the young punkfish glad couple from Stoke? You guys all looked great! One small problem: I was spoilt for choice in who to watch! It’d be nice to have more than one pair of eyes sometimes.

Great to meet up with so many forum chums. Won't name names cos I'll only miss out someone really important and have to post 20 times and wake up in a panic in the middle of the night etc...

I really hope you can get a cheap flight to Scotland soon...

I'd just like to add my congrats to everyone. Here are some of my memorable moments from the weekend

Sheena almost wearing that Scottish flag outfit in Chiswick, stunning or what!!!!!!

Franck (I'm too sexy for my kilt) Pauly, when he birled onstage to reveal what a Frenchman wears under his kilt:wink:

Wendy's pole dancing demonstration on the Picadilly line, which raised more thatn a few eyebrows!!!!!!

Bill, Fran and Denise's fabby performance to win the double trouble comp. WOW!!!!

Meeting Dale and his friend Edward who were more than happy to dance with the 'hicks from the sticks'

Dale and Heather making it through to the semi finals despite only having met for the first time at Chiswick the night before!!!!

Des and Sheena's steamy, sulrty last dance of the evening:wink:

Stevie Wong's bacofoil top, fancy footwork and not least his lovely smile, it was great to get the chance to talk in the Peacehaven, I do hope you'll venture north soon

Midnight feast with Heather in the Peacehaven on Saturday night.

Spontaneous response from the crowd at the performance of our cabaret, they were the real judges and I'm glad we entertained them.

Wendy - I'm sure it was the 'connection' with Jimmy nipples and nothing to do with the Black PVC bondage top that won you 2nd place in the lucky dip.

The honesty of the young man on the tube who found Franck's wallet and ran after him to return it

Sharing so much laughter with so many friends

Despite having my bag searched by the over zealous staff on the doors of Hammersmith, they failed to find the copious amounts of Special K bars hidden amongst my bras, knickers and skimmpy tops!!

A special big thankyou to my partner Steven. It's always a pleasure to dance with you, it was fun and didn't we do well!

There are lots more moments but I think these are the best!

Linda

 Ha! So I'm not the only person who does that? I figured they'd be far too embarrassed to lift a pair of knickers out of my bag. And to think, Marc was laughing at me!

Well. When I realised that they were searching bags, I just took the 2 bottles of diet coke out of my bag, and held them in my hand behind my back.

They didn't ask to search my hand, so I ended up walking in with them :D

I thought it was pretty funny at the time :na:

Hi Punkfish (aka Anthony - which do you prefer) so good to meet on the Forum. Big congratulations on your result in intermediate - you were fab!

Would love a chance to dance with you - I'm always too tired for freestyle at the end of a competition so miss out on dancing with the men I've spotted during the day. Will you and Sarah be at the Bristol leroc champs in August??

Hi La diva.... Just Ant is cool thanks. I remember u guys, cool costume! How did you do? I could do with the video to see who everyone is and who got placed?!? I think tiredness got the better of me!!

I didn't get to dance much in the freestyle, couldn't find the room on the dance floor!

I'm afraid we wont be at Bristol champs... I'm working in America until September. Hope to be entering the Scotland ones though... what about you? Have you got any new ideas for some cool costumes... I think thats harder than the dancing itself.

Shame about Bristol - but we'll almost certainly see you at the ceroc Scotland comp.

TwK (my partner) and I got to the final with you guys - but didn't place. I can't wait for the video either - I hardly saw what anyone else was doing while I was dancing. Same for Blackpool - surely the video (for Chance2Dance) will be available any time now?

Thanks for compliments on the costumes - I really love my white skirt and the flashing panels have become such a trademark now that hardly anyone recognises us without them, but so many people do when we are wearing them. We've been doing the white theme for a year now and it's a dilemma - to stick with our signature or go for something new. Toby is always up for new costumes - there's just more cool flashing stuff for guys in the things he likes *sigh* - fortunately a few months before we have to decide!

I love your slashed punkyfish look - they have some great clothes. Will you stick to red and black?

Let us know if you and Sarah are heading for a dance in London in the meantime.

Looking forward to both videos, even though I find it a traumatic experience watching myself dance  .... Gettin use to it more now mind.

We have'nt decided whether to keep our red 'n' black theme yet... we'll have to toss a coin (a method of fixing all problems, me thinks!). Its a shame there isn't much flashing stuff available, may be you should make your own range!?!

Should be dancing in London sometime soon.... Will hopefully be living in Twickingham as of September.. can't wait to check out the new dance scene!

Do you know what clubs are local to that area?

Ant

I must admit, I don't know the area around Twickers so well (being a norf Londoner) - I reckon from there you should be able to get to Fulham Town Hall (ceroc) and Hipsters in Ealing Town Hall. There's bound to be loads around, as well as more central dancing venues. Probably depends on your transport situation.

Let us know when you'll be about - hope for a dance before you head Stateside

Know what you mean about watching yourself on video - the camera never lies!!!

Congrats Ant

Thought you two looked great and methinks you, and a few others, will very soon have to move to the advanced section. Mind you the competition is already fierce and Fran and I never do too well................so maybe you need to stick to the Intermediate for a while yet :D :sorry

I'll be down your way over summer but sounds like you'll be in the states. Have fun and well done again.

Hi Bill *insert slinky smilely here*

I know what you mean about moving up - this isn't the first time you've mentioned it and I've been meaning to reply to your previous post on the matter...

I agree that the new Open category has really.. er.. opened up the advanced section creating a much clearer line of progression from Intermediate up to Open. It was one of the things I was interested to observe on the day.... I think the time is fast approaching where the organisers of the big events will really have to publish guidelines, or even rules, on who should or may enter which category as far as Intermediate and Advanced are concerned.

I know in Australia they have a more defined Intermediate A and B and Advanced categorisation based on length of time learning and requiring people who have placed in competitions in one category to move up to the next category in the following year. I can't recall the precise detail of how many placings and in which year and how it all works, but you could do it based on being a finalist in a number of competitions (and name the comps - say Blackpool/Ceroc/Bristol/Britroc? and Scotland and make it 3/5 or something).

At the moment it's all elective - and it may be that some of the entrants at intermediate level should now enter advanced instead. I would welcome guidance from the organisations. What do others think?

Divissima
9th-May-2003, 01:37 PM
oops - I seem to have gone off-thread...

Franck! Does this need to be a new thread on Which category - Intermediate or Advanced?

I defer to your wisdom, oh keeper of the Forum...

Difficult problem deciding who belongs where. I think it would be very disappointing for couples in the Intermediate section if previous winners are in the same event.

Totally agree. How can you sort that one out though? Could they e.g. even disqualify someone for being 'too good' for intermediates?

I wouldn't like to see that. Everyone will rise to their own level eventually as long as the winners don't stay put. Not going up (provided there is a suitable category to move to) smacks of a lack of judgement on their part.....or perhaps even greed.

Absolutely Linda - we had a great time!

Just to add some of my most memorable moments of the weekend:-

Stuart lifting me up in the airport to whirl me around and telling me I was light - bless.

Demo-ing with Franck in Chiswick (thanks Franck:kiss: )

Dancing in Chiswick with Des, Dale, Will, all the fab Scottish contingent, Russell, Chris - and what was that other guy called, oh yeah VIKTOR :yum:

Watching Scot, Viktor and Obi in the double trouble.

Sharing Franck's I-pod with Wendy - oh those dirty saxaphone trax.............

Having my lucky dip partner say "yeah, if you have a black top with you - go and get changed  "

Emma and Dan's outfit.
Lily's dress.
Debster's shoes.

Dancing in the freestyle with the Milk Tray Boy himself - Andy - and he had a uniform on.

Watching all of the fabulous dancers.

Sitting about 5 feet away from Lily and Amir when they performed THE best air-move I have ever seen:drool:

Killing myself laughing as Heather cheered Des and I in the intermediate 3rd round and then realised Dale was on the dance-floor waiting for her.:D

Nearly falling over the strokeable trousers in the 3rd round of the lucky dip - oops!

The response for our cabaret - awesome as Niall would say!

Dan Hudson playing Sk8er Boi - in London

All of the fab dances I had over the evening. Especially Stevie Wong, David B and our own dancing penguin Steven.

Now this post is too long and I'll be in big trouble with the boss :tears:

It was a fab weekend - roll on next year!
