I'm guessing it's a Tom Tom One (saw the ad for PC World yesterday)
I have one and it's good. You can use it almost straight out of the box (minor setup stuff).
It's not a massive bargain (I paid £200 for mine back in May) but I'd not hestitate to recommend the device
As a side note we have noticed "Nelly" switches into some interesting modes for finding routes from time to time
"Asian Taxi Driver" - loads of back streets that seem to go around in a circle when there's an obvious straight road
"Open Top Bus" - The scenic route
"Dirk Gently" - follow a car that seems to know where it's going
"Carmagedden" - roads that have endless possibilities for mowing down young children or the elderly

Tom Tom’s are very good and easy to use
I went for the next model up
Check you do not need any of the functions of the more expensive models
Tom Tom One does not have Bluetooth

Just be careful. There's a new satNav virus been discovered, which targets Tomtoms via the actual satellite connection - if infected, about one trip in ten will land you in a field containing an flock of homicidal chickens and an angry bull.
If this happens, well - you'll probably find yourself wishing you'd paid more attention to what WB had to tell you...

Is that what you meant?

Has anyone read it? Well there were 1 or 2 (yes....1 or 2) readers.
And ........it has been re-opened for public view - after being closed for a while after a bit of a.......
It may resurface with new blog postings later this year - in an even more mildly entertaining way.
See the full story of a young, beginner dancer at Ceroc Mad Jive Lad (http://ceroc.blogspot.com/)
:D
This is way off thread.
(PS I have advised Senorita that she can buy the maps - or even get a new device from eBay - the prices are going right down for SatNav (and forecast to drop another 25% by year end.....). With a dial-up - you have your limitations..........).

My car was broken into a couple of months ago & I lost a number of things, including my Sat Nav ( a Tom Tom 520 which I was quite happy with)
Before I replace it, has anyone got any recommendations?
I need a reliable, idiot-proof device that will deliver me to exact addresses using full post codes, that won't annoy me by talking or beeping at me & that doesn't cost a ridiculous amount of money..

Thanks, guys. :waycool:
DS, does the myguide work with full post codes?
Have you had any problems* ending up in fields or going up one-way streets the wrong way??
(*problems specifically related to the myguide!)
Dreadful Scathe
17th-April-2009, 09:37 PM
yes, my one does full postcodes and ive had no specific problems - so if thats true of all myguides you'll be alright (my one had games on it too :) )
