Tell me about it. Wish I'd stayed at Aberdeen BB now.. as I had my Digital SLR in my bag.

But I speak from experience, in indoor shots you need flash or long(ish) exposures , longer exposures need people to stay still (ermm hello this is Ceroc.. stay still? hahaha) and a tripod.. but with flash you have the problems if they are too far away then they're too dark, Too close and the are washed out and if you don't have the flash seperated by a good few inches from the lens then you'll get red eye.

I think you did exceedingly well with your pics. they're great!

I find I have more success if I turn the flash off. :)

Yeah , does depend on the ambient light as when the flash is turned down your camera will either open the apeture or increase the exposure (or a mix of both)Mind you the Ballroom was quite well lit.. could easily have got away with piccies sans flash ! ;)

If you have a decent lens , you can open it up fully and get ok pics with a sightly longer exposure. But if you're trying to catch dancers mid spin you may find image blurring a little..
of course, this can look cool if that's the effect you were after.

I have a wedding to photograph next month but As usual I'll be using my bounce head flash to illuminate without problems.. (well.. with LESS problems anyway ;) )

Tell me about it. Wish I'd stayed at Aberdeen BB now.. as I had my Digital SLR in my bag. oooooo I want one of those!! I have to say that I find taking photos a good way to enjoy dance events when I'm dancing like a giant pile of mush.

PeteDigital is great for dancing photos - as you can take the dozens required to get the few great ones - no great ones in these ones though :( - some good ones but no great - the stirling ones are the best due to the space and natural light

They are good. There are a few more than those on your Flickr account. Are the Flickr ones just highlights?

on Flickr I tend to pick out the ones that for whatever reason I REALLY like

on Kodak - I just load up everything I took - minus the very blurred and hidious ones.

I've mostly ended up using Kodak as it allows me to create as many galleries as I like - and as I can't afford a Flickr Pro account - I'm only allowed 3 galleries there

You can tag though and then you can just point people to the tag. But you only get 200 photos in the photostream in a non-pro account. Which is a pain.

I know she has e-mailed requesting membership, It has to be done manually because she has a hotmail account, I'll check with Franck tomorrow in Stirling.

I have e-mailed her the links for all the fab photos from Yliander and Piglet and will do the same with yours!
