So who's going to be doing this one in preference to Jive Time's May Camber?

It's going to be the official 25th Anniversary celebration for Ceroc.

Just seen the info on the website - looks as if it is going to be a big one - may be worth considering giving May Camber a miss and trying Welsh Wales instead particularly as it is the prestige Pontin's (mind boggles!) and Mike intending to pull out all the stops. Storm was excellent but I think we will soon run the risk that there are so many weekenders to choose from that they all start to become diluted like the MJ freestyle venues have and folk are at a loss to know which ones to attend. Sure Southport will always be well attended but Franco and Mike will end up fighting the others out between them and who do you think will win??

Really Miss Witty. Such language from one so innocent.

On the point of Prestatyn, I wouldnt mind doing this either. Apparently it is the biggest venue Pontins have  If memory serves its about 1800 sq. metres of floor space :what:
Plus, I get the feeling Ceroc will make it pretty magnificent. I was well impressed with Storm, roll on Prestatyn.

So ideas for the 80's theme.
Madonna, Boy George, Adam Ant lookalikes.
Glam with big shoulder pads. (Think Dallas/Dynasty)
Ra Ra skirts
Leg warmers. (Think FlashDance)
New Romantic frilled shirts.
Men should go for the 'TopGun' look, naturally. :D (well it was released in 86)
Then they can reuse it in June for the 'Uniform' theme at Southport.
Any other ideas?

For anyone who is thinking of going up by train, the direct train from Euston to Prestatyn takes just 2 hours 30 minutes (as opposed to say 4 hours 30 minutes by car). Bizarrely, the ceroc site recommends going to Rhyl, which takes longer, involves changes and costs more (they say £58 as opposed to the £30 my return to Prestatyn cost me).

Given that significant numbers of people do travel to weekenders by train, I think that it would be helpful if the organisers gave a little more detailed and accurate information about train travel.

NB If you do take the train to Prestatyn, please note that most services are not direct. The non direct services take around an hour longer.

Hmm... The Ceroc Chill web site says this...

There are two train stations relatively near the Pontins site. Prestatyn is the nearest. However the fares to Rhyl station are cheaper and you change less times.

For example:

London Euston to Rhyl is £58 return and takes less than three hours
From Glasgow, going to Rhyl or Prestatyn, the only difference is that the trains gets into Rhyl 6 minutes after Prestayn – it is otherwise identical journeys and identical prices (£91.10 "saver return").

And I found the very same for between Euston & Rhyl or Prestatyn, direct or indirect, same route, same price (£62.70 "saver return"), every train passing through Prestatyn 6 minutes before arriving at Rhyl.

Not saying you or Ceroc are wrong – maybe you found routes, times or fares I missed.

The conflicting information that you obtained illustrates what a shambles the railways have become since privatisation. If you check prices online, you get prices such as those you cite. If you ring up Virgin, you get the price of £30 return that I paid (though this might not now be available given that we are less than a week from the event).

All this confusion means that it's very hard for non regular rail users to get a decent deal. All the more reason then for event organisers to do more research and share the information with us all. It's a real chore for everyone to have to reinvent the wheel at every event. To give another example, the complete absence of rail information for Southport means that at each weekender a number of poor souls end up at Southport station rather than the correct station of Ainsdale.

Back to Prestatyn, it would have been helpful for ceroc to have advised that it is possible to get a direct train to Prestatyn. It's a bit of a pain having to change en route and then having to get a taxi from Rhyl.

Just got the final info email - there's to be a DWAS on the Saturday night but only open to those who have dressed up appropriately for the 80s theme. Now, where's my Frankie Says t-shirt?????

Ive no e-mails from Chill to this effect ?

Given the dress up rate at Southport is under 20% that will be interesting

ps my wadrobe is from the 80s so i think ill make the effort

You guys are soooooooooo lucky, all you need is a light colour jacket, push the sleaves up and wear a plain coloured tea shirt - Miami Vice

you must have something in your wardrobes like that

Us girlies have a hard time - unless you want to wear a rah rah skirt (I'm too fat for one :tears: ) Trousers were straight legged and tight, and tops were big and baggy with wide sleaves, high necks and massive shoulders

I reckon it's probably a similar number to other weekenders, but because Chill doesn't have the established reputation of an event like Southport, it's been harder for those who have tickets but for whatever reason cannot go and are trying to off-load their tickets.

In my case, transport problems! All travel possibilities now seem off, so I have a spare male ticket, single and sharing, £39 variety. Contact me on 07837 229064 if you can use it!
