Hi Everyone,

A little Angel is being sent to Huntingdon next week for work (well in addition to the last 3 weeks) and is looking for places to dance.

I''ll be there Tuesday and Wednesday next week, and will regularly be returning up there.

It's only been 3 weeks and I'm already fed up of spending evenings in hotels, eating out with the boys (especially where football is concerned) and to top it all I'm drinking far too much alcohol (ok this may be a good point but isn't helping the diet).

Recomendations anyone??

Tuesday St Neots is OK if Michaela is teaching.

A few Huntingdon folk go to Cambridge Wednesdays and it can be a good night but it's a small venue with no parking.

I have had some good nights at Jivevibe at the Fleet Peterborough on Wednesdays though it's a bit further from Huntingdon than either of the other two.

Stevenage is on Wednesdays and is less than 40 miles from Huntingdon (about 40-45 mins drive). 8 pm start, Jon Brett on the decks.

Nothing really local that's worthy of a definite reccomendation - unless you end up being in the area on a Sunday night, when JiveNites is very reasonable as hobson's choice. There's a lindy class http://www.getintheswing.com/ on Tuesdays, which is where I'll be...

When I lived in Huntingdon, well Brampton actually, I went to Ceroc in Cambridge on Mondays and Wednesdays. Also in the area were Peterborough on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but Kettering, Bedford and St Neots were not too far and I went there quite often. There wasn't anything on in Huntingdon then, but I believe there is now, thoough it's not Ceroc.

Cambridge also has ballroom, salsa and Lindy Hop - check out it here (http://www.cambsbedslindy.co.uk/)

Thanks

Had looked on the net but wanted some personal recommendations rather than just finding the closest.

But will contact the WCS people and ask about the classes :D

So is that a recommendation to avoid St Neots if Michaela isn't teaching??

Was looking at Cambridge and Peterborough will have to try them out and see what they're like for myself.

I'm going to be there a bit more during the week for the next few months  don't you just love it when work decide to send you places

Well if you pop along to Cambridge on Wednesdays, grab me for a dance or two and say hello. I normally venue manage on Wednesdays. Parking is a nightmare, and the best place to park is on either Sidgwick Aveneue or Newnham Way

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=Sidgwick+Avenue,+Cambridge&ll=52.20382,0.111752&spn=0.018726,0.072098&om=1

And then walk down Silver Street and turn right at the Anchor pub (walk up the ally to Mill Lane)

Will do.
Thanks for the parking info - If I'm not there next week I'll make the effort to be there at some point in the next few weeks.

Thanks

I believe that Michaela is back from her trip to Canada, which included being at the opening of a Ceroc venue there, run, I believe by Kerry.

St Neots is my favourite local venue, though I usually dance in Bedford. It has the extra of a balcony overlooking the river.

It's not so bad when it's the south of France for 6 months...

I know that one - thanks anyway

My hotel normally overlooks the river so not such of a big draw for me.
I like venues with nice friendly people who'll dance with me. :D

Well this little Angel will be up visiting soon - is that good or bad?

I wish - my friend is an Amsterdam this week for work and she's already been to Brussels, Vienna, Paris and I can't remember where else this year and I get to go to Huntingdon or Preston - not that I have anything against either place but somewhere more exotic or abroad would be nice - just very unlikely

Unless, like Paul F, you get to go to Buenos Aires :green-eyed monster:

Bedford and Cambridge will not be on on Monday. As a consequence some of the keenest dancers will be going to St. Neots to get their "fix". St. Neots on next Tuesday is likely to be exceptionally good. I am hoping to be able to go.

You mean it'll be so crowded that there is no point trying to dance? Like the freestyles there?

SeanI went to ST. Neots tonight for the first time in months. It was very busy, but managable.

I realised my posting was irrevelant, as "next week" had evolved into "this week", as it does.

This little Angel was there too - I'll post a review on the feedback thread when I have more time.
