Well. It appears that finally my request for voluntary redundancy is actually going ahead, and I will be parting company with the Post Office, albeit reluctantly (I'll miss it like I'd miss a hole in the head!! :D).

So. Scotland, here I come!! (I'm giving you all advance warning so that you can get out before I arrive and the bottom falls out of the house market).

Currently, I'm looking at moving to either Dundee, or Aberdeen, and getting a temp job (unless something permanent drops in my lap!), until I can hopefully go back to university in September 2004.

Still not sure about timescales. I'm off to Australia for 3.5 weeks on the 4th June, and hopefully will not have to come back to work here after I get back.

It's all pretty scary, leaving a permanent, fixed, well paid job at the ripe old age of 34, with no real plans ahead. But at least it'll be fun (it couldn't be any less fun than being here). And I'm looking forward to living (and dancing) in Scotland.

See you all soon (well, those of you who live in Scotland)!!

Oh and I'll commandeer the company jet so you can commute on time and in style from eastcoastland to EKB and get back dahn sahth occasionally - deal?

Seriously, being nosey and Friday afternoon gossipy now - what will you study?

Will be sad to see you go, Steve - although I daresay my head will suffer less abuse!

But it's exciting that your plans are taking shape. Are you competing in the Ceroc and Modern Jive champs in Sydney??? TwK and I decided to postpone our trip until September so we won't be there to cheer you on :tears: Do you know if anyone else is going??

Watch it! There are some solicitors online, you know.
Or should I have kept quiet about that?? :sorry

TheTramp

Don't know about the competing thing. There is a possibility that Lily Barker may come out with me, and then we could compete together. Other than that, if there is an Australian lady who wants to compete, but doesn't have a partner, and is game to do it for a bit of a laugh (I'm only getting there the day before the competition, so there will be very limited time to dance with each other), then I'd enter with her. Other than that, I'll do DWAS, and just watch the rest :D Shame you're not coming for these champs though. I'd have cheered you more loudly than the rest of the Aussie's put together!!

And I really think that you should have kept quiet

Well Dundee does have an excellent university Steve, not to mention lots of lovely ladies who would be more than happy to dance with you on a Wednesday and Monday (in fact any day that there is dancing to be had!).

Look forward to seeing you here - or in London at the Champs.

Thanks for the dance last night, by the way. It was fab. Dances with you are like gold dust (all the more so now you are really going :tears: :tears: :tears: )

Well. Just found out that my last day in my current job will be Friday 11th April :D

So, then I just have to negotiate 3 weeks of being in a process called Job Shop (where they see if there's any other area in the business that needs my skills, and to which I would be invaluable), and assuming that they won't (it's amazing what I've forgotten just now), then 3 months paid notice, and I'm out of the Post Office!!

It's already been a pretty good day :D

Good for you Tramp, sounds like your plans are coming together, should say while you are considering you plans that Aberdeen has a couple of wonderful universities and the original Aberdeen Uni has a very, very good reputation in Law. Additionally there are loads of lovely ladies (and lads - though we're not so lovely!) who would be very happy to see you at our Aberdeen nights on a much more frequent basis.

Sorry Chicklet.

Definitely won't be coming to Glasgow to live. Although, you might well see me there on a reasonably regular basis. :) Trying to decide whether it'll be Dundee or Aberdeen. Both have lots of reasons for going. I'll probably not decide until I get up there and start looking for work and accomodation.

And for the record. I hate the underground! :D So, I'd probably be a lot happier without one....

Indeed Dundee does have a LOT going for it - but less sheep than Aberdeen!!!!!

Not sure that either city is ready for YOU though Steve!!!!!

TheTramp
2nd-April-2003, 11:20 AM
I'm pretty sure that the number of sheep won't affect my decision in any way DV. But thank you for letting me know anyhow.

Why won't either city be ready for me? I'm very shy, quiet and retiring really....

I fear you missunderstand a little, I am far from revolting.

I was lucky, daddy bought me a fleet of Lexi and a small island off Zanzibar instead of a university library cos everybody knows at the Chalet School they just teach you how to skate on thin ice and marry doctors. :innocent: so I would have been crap at uni.

Well there is a saying up here that Dundee only exists for Aberdonians to stop and relieve their bowels on the way to Glasgow. {No flames please - I didn't say it, I'm mearly quoting it}

IMHO, Aberdeen is a village, with all the amenities of a city.
