View Full Version : Dundee Parties

Apparently the last Dundee monthly party wasn't as well attended as might have been expected at what is now the UK centre of excellence for Modern Jive Team Cabarets.

Dunno if that's true or not, as I wasn't there either!! Assuming it's correct, any ideas why, and/or what could be done for future months?

Eg:

Would it be more of an "occasion" to hold it in a different venue, eg the Bonar Hall or a hotel?

Similarly, did holding it every second month make it more special?

Does there need to be some differentiator about the Dundee party so that it doesn't get squeezed between the Edinburgh and Aberdeen events?

Are there suddenly too many other events in Tayside (new Perth night, second Dundee night) and only so many nights a week we're allowed out?

Was it just that the week after Blackpool, too many people had to do family things instead?

Was it just a blip and everything will be fine next month ?

Is PeterL's job as Chief Worrier in danger?

It was indeed fairly quiet, thought this in itself wasn't as a problem as it menat fewer men and more dances with all the lovely ladies forming the MAd crew:D :D To my knowledge I was the only Aberdonain and PeterL (aka chief worrier) was the only dancer from Edinburgh with no Glaswegians making the trip. However we were well looked after and a trip to the casino followed the night and had a fabby night and would encourage anyway who wants a good night to get along to a Dundee party.

As to why it was quiet, I have no idea but I know this Aberdeen's party wasn't overly busy either and again I had a really good night - perhaps it's because Blackpool was just recently and that some are also planning to invade London at the start of May and as such saving a few pennies and catching up with others the weekend's they do have in Scotland - dunno - think the venue may put some off though as it is awfully warm.

And what about those lovely ladies who don't form part of the MAd crew Dave????

Thanks to yourself and to Peter (aha so THAT'S who you are!!!) for some lovely dances - and of course to all the other men that I had the pleasure of dancing with. It was a great night even though it wasn't busy.

Just to reinstate myself as chief worrier.

I was wondering if anyone else was finding the party nights in general getting too crowded.

Maybe I am getting old or just getting used to dancing with a bit of room, but I am beggining to enjoy some of the classes more than most parties, there is more room to enjoy the dance without "worrying" about your partner being bashed.

The Dundee party was a refreshing change in that there was plenty of good dancers and plenty of room.

I realise the economics of such nights require as high an attendance as possible but it does reach the point where the enjoyment is spoilt.

I went to the Glasgow party the next night and found that I didn't enjoy dancing half as much as I did the night before. A lot of dancers make there dance smaller when it is crowded but I find that doing this, all that happens is that some of the couples around crowd in even closer, so you end up concentrating more on not being bashed than you do the music and your partner.

I am pleased that the Glasgow parties are moving to a larger venue as it is good that ceroc is becoming more popular and more people are attending, however it does make a refreshing change when nights are quieter.

I like Marco's as a venue but wonder if anyone else is also finding that on a Thursday and on party nights crowding is becoming an issue.

I am probably just spoilt with some of the nights I have had out and am aware that down south floor space is an even tighter premium.

any thoughts on this?
or am I just overly worrying again.

By the way thanks to all the Dundee crew for making me and Dave so welcome.

DV,
I didn't realise you didn't form the so called MAd crew - as I use the term loosely to describe all Dundee women (with no offence intended of course to those who consider themselves not mad!) - going to stop before I end up getting into more trouble, but suffice to say I enjoyed all my dances with all of the lovely ladies of Dundee and especially the numerous dances which you were kind enough to share with me - I note that you only enjoyed your dances with men???

Well, if you go the Route 66 party on Friday you may just spot DV showing how athletic she is, during the Fatal Attraction routine.
:nice:

OH I wasn't offended - not at all - the MAd crew are fab. I was just pointing out that we aren't all MAd

I did enjoy my dances with all the lovely ladies I danced with but they tend to be too taxing on my brain - I was told by my first Ceroc teacher (thanks Jenni) that women should check their brains in with their coats when coming to dance Ceroc, that way they are less inclined to lead (I'm sure she wasn't talking to ME directly!!!!!) - I go to Ceroc to relax, not to stress out over my lack of moves when dancing as a man :what:

Peter, next time we dance you'll KNOW who I am!!!!

I'm glad you brought that up, Peter, I've been meaning to ask.

This is why we need worriers :nice:

Yes, maybe you should have quit while you were ahead! You didn't share your dance expertise with ALL of the lovely ladies of Dundee - you didn't dance with me! - or are you trying to tell me that I'm not lovely too?

:what:

Razzle Dazzle, 101 apologies seem to be in order - both for not dancing with you (thought I'd danced with all ladies in Dundee that night - although evidently not) and for excluding you from the lovely ladies of Dundee of which I'm sure you are one, even if I haven't a clue who you are from your alias!!

Maybe next time I'm down if I've not asked you for a dance, perhaps you could be bold and ask me - I don't bite - well not much:devil::wink:

Ha, got you wondering if you missed anyone out too - not sure if you did dance with me - how would I know you? Describe yourself to me (I need some clues and you'll have to do better than 'tall, dark and handsome').:innocent:
