Every now and then you come accross some quirky recipe or strange eating fad that sounds a bit yuk, then you try it and discover that it's rather nice, I just had a hot cross bun with marmalade and it was rather delicious:yum:

Have you got any odd little snacks? Be brave, let us all know!

Try this recipe...(sounds absolutely minging, but is in fact, yummy! I blame my Dad for getting me into this!)

Get 2 or 3 rounds of bread.
Break them up into little pieces and place them in a bowl.
Next, get some chedder cheese and cut into little cubes.
Through into bowl.
2 cubes of oxo and crush over the bread and cheese.

Pour boiling water over the top and stir it all up.

I went to a boarding school, where there was always loads of fried bread but no toast for breakfast. As a result, I like fried bread with marmelade. Don't have it very often though.

As a teenager I had a friend who used to love a slice of gingerbread (the moist kind like McVities) and cheddar cheese.
I thought she was mad, but actually became converted...it was delicious.
Sadly, I would never dream of going out and buying gingerbread these days and as for cheddar cheese....it would have to be the half fat variety!!!:innocent:

( Don't people on diets just annoy the life out of you!  )

Looks like it could open the sluices at both ends, but Taz enjoyed it . . . even if she did almost lock me in the ironing board cupboard in her haste to get to the loo:what:

Childhood breakfast:

Take three shredded wheat
Soak in boiling water, then drain off
Add three knobs butter and sugar to taste
Mash it all together and eat. (Don't have it these days but brings back warm memories)

Snack:

Fresh bread, buttered, smother with generous helping of peanut butter
Slice banana(s) lengthwise and place on peanut butter until everything is covered with a layer of banana.
Eat.

Recipe tip:

When making strawberry ice-cream, add one tablespoon balsamic vinegar per pint of mixture. Astonishingly, you don't taste the vinegar but the strawberry flavour leaps out, grabs you by the collar, jabs you in the eyes and blows a raspberry. Truly mystifying.

Condensed milk sandwiches it is, then. If we ever meet we'll have to have some of those. With freshly-made bread and real butter, of course.

(My wife, meanwhile, will look on in disgust that I could ever actually enjoy something so sickly-sweet!)

I am very worried, what is the world coming to
chocolate covered biscuits  have been removed form the
"shopping basket" (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4824798.stm)used by the government to measure inflation

How can essentials be removed?
What are people eating for elevenses, instead:confused:

I haven't had one of these since I was a kid (about age 12) but I really used to love.....

Hot dog and Mars bar sandwiches.

You have to put the mars bar in a frdge for quite a while to be able to grate it through the large holes in a cheese grater.
