Come on fellow forumites Fridays was always a good day for a really contentious hotshot/hipsters/jangoista heated debate or fast burning thread.

Its all very quiet today and very pleasing to see everyone wishing everyone a Happy Birthday:cheers:

 so where is the heated debate going to come from today who has the burning desire to set the cat amongst the pidgeons.:flower:

All hotshots should be outed on the forum.

All djs have big egos.

Frotting is a perversion!

I might be becoming a hotshot. I used to enjoy dancing with beginners (and molding them how I like). But recently I've found beginner classes too painful (not physically) and slow. Sometimes I prefer to sit out.

I stilll don't refuse a dance with anyone who asks. And I'm gratified that I rarely need to ask.

But most often I arrive at class (or even start the class) and think I'd be happier watching than particpating.

Unless you sit out and actually disrupt the class by talking loudly to your friends (preferably pointing at the worst of the beginners and laughing as well), then you have a long way to go before you can really call yourself a hotshot.

You need to try a lot harder than that to be contentious these days. Still, it's good that the Americans are bombing Iraq again....

So, what exactly is a "hotshot" :confused:Someone who goes to their first tango lesson and realises that they don't like dancing with a leader, also on their first night, because he seems to swooshing his feet in arcs rather than straight lines. Err, seem to have just outed myself as a hotshot here. (Come on, you can't have a Friday thread without a bit of a tango hijack, can you?)

So, what exactly is a "hotshot" :confused:History repeating or what?

1. Beginning dancer. Knows nothing.

2. Intermediate dancer. Knows everything. Too good to dance with beginners.

3. Hotshot dancer. Too good to dance with anyone.

4. Advanced dancer. Dances everything. Especially with beginners.

Some people maintain that Hotshot dancers do not exist. Or maybe exist in the minds of those of us who name them. I maintain that these dancers do exist, but not in the numbers we first supposed. Basically, hotshot dancers are too good to dance with you - whoever 'you' are. And it is 'you' who names them 'hotshot'. In being too good to dance with 'you' they lessen you in your own eyes - don't let them do it and don't become one of those people. If you find yourself saying, I prefer not to dance with beginners but would never turn anyone down for a dance you've take your first step. Before you know it there will be 6 people and 6 people only that you're prepared to dance with.

<<<<snip>>>> And, of course we should all show more compassion to people less fortunate than ourselves. But where do we draw the line and how do we decide between causes. <<<<snip>>>> And always, always, always, dance with every single woman in the room if you possibly can - irrespective if beauty, age, weight, dancing skill, friendlyness, gratitude, etc.

It's a Ceroc night and something evil's lurking in the dark
Under the stage light you see a sight that almost stops your heart
You try to scream but terror takes the sound before you make it
You start to freeze as horror looks you right between the eyes,
You're paralyzed

'Cause this is Hotshot, Hotshot, night
And no one's gonna save you from the ego 'bout to strike
You know it's Hotshot, Hotshot night
You're fighting for your life inside a killer, Hotshot tonight
Yeah, ooh..

You see the crowd hush and realize there's nowhere left to run
You feel the smug hand and wonder if you'll ever see the sun
You close your eyes and hope that this is just imagination, girl
But all the while you hear a Hotshot creepin' up behind
You're out of time

'Cause this is Hotshot, Hotshot night
There ain't no second chance against the man with forty dips,
Hotshot, (Wooohooo) Hotshot night
You're fighting for your life inside a killer, Hotshot tonight

And small point of order Andy, (just to be contentious, you understand:devil: ) why have you've down sized your Hotshot list since HERE (http://www.cerocscotland.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5839&highlight=hotshot) ?

Excellent question, Lory.

I was wondering that myself. I had discounted the obvious answer, namely that he's changed his opinion because of a contrary view expressed by someone on the forum, as too ludicrous to be possible.

(BTW, if I scored 12/20 on the Hotshot test, does that make me a bad person? Or do I just need to invest in some braces and two-tone shoes to complete the picture?)

Found it very confusing last time asking people if they were forumites

Usually the colour of my pants doesn't raise comment on the dance floor :)

My favourite are the Mr.Happy pants but no one ever asks to see them :(
