View Full Version : Rep on Profile?

I was just wondering why it isn't possible to see how much rep someone has or what their rep power is when you view their profile.

Would it be possible to change this so that you can see this information, please?

At the moment if you want to find out (AFAIK) you have to find their posts then view one of their posts to see this information. Sometimes, it would just be nice to click on their name and see that info :nice:.

Actually, it is, if you're constructing a set of Forum Top Trumps for a weekender.

It took me ages to compile all the data - it would have been much easier if the power / rep were on the profiles :)

:yeah:
See, Msfab, if DJ says so then it's the law - so there :na:
Honestly though, it would be easier, especially if you're on dial-up and it takes a while for each page to load - you could find all the information on one page instead of having to go through three...

The extra step for you to find rep info might just save the rest of us from reading your many points of view

Imagine how bad it'd be if I hadn't spent all that time doing it though :na:

Nearly there... One last push...

If your need was so great, I'm sure Franck would run the appropriate SQL query for you...

Something along the lines of...

select username, reputation, posts, joindate from user where reputation > 100 and posts > 100;... would pull out pretty much everything you need.

Strangely, at least in the version of vBulletin I'm using, the rep power is recalculated on the fly as needed, so you'd need to do some calculations to figure it out. Also, I don't see in the code where the capping of rep power is done.

Here's something I did find out though... An admin's rep power is not halved when giving negative rep. Careful not to upset Franck!

Yeah, less rubbish to read through! And those with the slower connections might just get round the forum a bit quicker!

Am I the only one who hopes that Franck and or Sheena would find it really amusing to move some threads into the test forum to put DJ's post count back to 4,800?

No, but I did spend a lot of time telling folks how to spell millennium. :na:

Those long winter nights must have just flown by...

Mind you, I got "affiliate" wrong today ("Afilliate", duh), so maybe me and double "l"s don't mix.

There have been times when I have felt that I had good reason for wanting to post anonomously, the thread on suicide being the latest. Perhaps a Vbulletin feature for members to post as anon, or anon+digits to distinguish between authors? This could perhaps be a paid for feature as it would probably be necessary to have such postings vetted by a moderator before appearing.

Many of us being "known" to each other or easily identifiable to anyone who cares to find out is exactly the reason why I sometimes think it's inappropriate for people to share very personal stuff on this forum. General principles are different, "history" which is being reported in a calm manner is different. But pain and distress should, IMO, only be disclosed in a safe environment and a public internet forum does not meet that criterion.

If someone is hurt, confused, sad, in pain, needs help, then there are other resources out there than the Ceroc Scotland dance forum. The PM system for a start, even before you try any other websites.
