Which strikes me as a pretty pointless audition for wannabee teachers  Whilst some of the better dancers in this area are also teachers it's not always so and some of the better teachers (IMO) are not necessarily the best dancers - no names, no pack drill.

As referred to on another thread, this weekend down on the coast it Viktor's last time teaching for Mencap in the King Alfred Ballroom in Hove.

And on Saturday in our area I'm teaching and DJ'ing for Hurstpierpoint Tennis Club* at their annual dance. There will be a short beginners lesson and then music 'til late. Also there will be a buffet - all for £7.50. Please PM me if you'd like to come so I can tell the Tennis Club to lay on more food. And I expect there'll be fit tennis players there too if you're looking for a partner for a mixed game with nets and balls

* the dance is at Hurstpierpoint Village Centre, Trinity Road, Hurstpierpoint, it's next to the only library in the village - and that is signposted. Hurstpierpoint is about 5 miles North of Brighton on the A23.

They understand the difficulties. At least one previous candidate rejected on dance ability at this stage now gives classes.
If the wannabe cannot manage themselves adequately on the dance floor there is no point in proceeding further, from Ceroc's viewpoint. If they get over that hurdle I believe that are taken to a private room to teach the First Move in their own words.

Discounting the Grantham mystery (1a.m arrival???) - Neots would be a good stop off as it's on the A1.

Beginner's class til 8.30ish, '(Sometimes not very)Fun class' 9 til 9.30/9.45 ish. Gets very busy as is well located for dancers across the ceroc central region hence a pretty packed dance floor til 11ish then thins enough to become more comfortable. I always have a good night there but my expectations may be different to your own. I always like going to a different venue though so give it a go. Get yourself a pink First Mover sticker and see how many women refuse you

St Neots (cringe Smiley) The music was dreadful, thump thump thump! The women predatory! I stood in disbelief watching a large number of women running onto the dance floor and grabbing men before they had even taken a breath after the previous dance! So crowded ( but was warned of this). A good floor though, lovely and fast. Thank heavens for Dirty D, PaulF, Dave Hancock, LittleEm, Taz and Robd. If you guys hadn't been there it would have been awful but the laughs and dances meant it wasn't a wasted journey. Paul, Dwain we'll have to practice the Tales of the Unexpected styling next time. xx

Very crowded, very hot, people with a herd mentality, people charging everywhere.. I have many bruises this morning in all sorts of places..

thanks to all of the above, including Cruella (thanks for the squashed dance, you did brilliantly..) and Taz for being an expert Man when the going got tough..:flower: Was lovely to have all the Forum members around, knowing you would not get kicked to death by the masses and were pretty safe in their hands... thanks chaps (and girls).. you all made my night :respect: . :flower: :flower:

I was feeling extremely tempted by PaulF Dave H DD S38 RobD and Taz visting, but also remembered I have never enjoyed the music at St Neots, or the sheer speed of the predatory women  .

Another niggle with that venue - Last time I went there (well over a year ago) there was a beginner class lasting 45 minutes and then a 'Fun' class that lasted 55 minutes!

You’ll be pleased to know I have cracked the Tales of the unexpected styling. It was probably one of the hardest styling features I’ve had to learn. Now I have that under my belt, I’ve moved on to learning the knocking knees styling and Taz is practicing the hand wave.

Absolute Classic styling moves, straight from cbeebies. I only hope that I do not see anyone free styling them as I think I will die of laughter. If that was bad enough the teacher had them humming tales of the unexpected whilst doing the move......... la la laaa la la.....(come on you can all join in )

having said that, thanks to Cruella, jacksondounut, paulF, littlemac, Dave, Taz for making a potential nightmare night into a pleasant bearable night!

St Neots (cringe Smiley) The music was dreadful, thump thump thump! The women predatory! I stood in disbelief watching a large number of women running onto the dance floor and grabbing men before they had even taken a breath after the previous dance! So crowded ( but was warned of this).

Thanks, Cruella. Now I know that staying at home on the sofa was the best decision!

Yes, yes and yes. Very good looking too though she does have a bit of a fixation at the moment with someone else who was there who doesn't seem to have reciprocal feelings. Tough love :really:

A few surprises there, Have some great dances with Chelsea, not sure if she’s on the forum, met her at camber but I thought I’d have to wait longer till we’d dance again and Kelly, Little Mac Best mate! Wow …. Em you kept Kelly under wraps. Thats one person I’d LOVE to dance with again. Bring out to London please ……….

Ermm there's a theme here Dirty D and I'm seeing where your forum name comes from :D - young, super-stylish and GORGEOUS dancers all. Perhaps you should have a dance off with Alex (who I think is Chelsea's boyfriend) for her affections  I danced with Kelly once before and she did the splits  scared the life out of me!

I met Alex at camber too :worthy: :worthy: Top respect, Top bloke. TOP Top Dancer, i've never seen a guy that could spin so well! No need for a dance off, i'll throw in the towel now!

Didn't get the pleasure of the splits, but maybe soon.

Well I LOVE St Neots    but then it's a whole different environment for a man than a woman. I didn't miss a single track and my legs are still aching. Great to see more forum folk in attendance.

rob

My first visit there

Very crowded to start and few people lacking in 'floor craft' but all in all a great night

Seemed more women there to start but I didnt notice a major imbalance after 11pm ?

Should perhaps put a sign outside for us who tried a few fire exits to get in

some great Forumite dances :flower:

and definately one of the nicest people too... come to think of it, he and Chelsea are a terrific couple.:flower: :flower:

Seemed more women there to start but I didnt notice a major imbalance after 11pm ?.......I did not see any men amongst the teacher candidates. When they left for their auditions it did improve the balance. Another factor is that their is a bias towards the less experienced dancers and one parent mums amongst those that leave early.

Should perhaps put a sign outside for us who tried a few fire exits to get in There is a nice balcony overlooking the river which used to provide access to the fire exits that get opened to provide cooling. I have found myself in the past dancing with a first timer that got in that way. Access to the balcony from outside has now been fenced off.
