It doesn't matter which foot I step back on right?

of course it matters - stepping back on the left is a different move to stepping back on your right :)

Moving your foot out of the direct path of the follower is also generally seen as a good idea.

I must remember that :)

I mean when you do the semi circle and step back, I've been told it's what ever foot you feel most comfortable with.

Any previous posts on the subject?

Looks like you got the rough end of the stick when you first started this thread.

If you have DJ'd for a while before you danced Ceroc I would be very much suprised if your DJing hasn't improved as well as your dancing

Non dancing DJ's seam to miss the point a lot when playing tunes

Whereas Dancing DJs know the pleasure of Dancing to some very good Music

 well done:cheers:

Ok a slightly more serious answer -

Moves change slightly depending on which foot you step back on. It makes certain things flow a bit easier if the footwork matches. You can still do stuff on either foot, but in some cases it'll feel 'clunky'.

At this point I'd suggest you'd be better off paying attention to which foot the lady is stepping back on. It took me a while to realise that although you can string moves together randomly, most moves are a lot easier for the lady to do if she's stepped back on a specific foot.

Hope that helps
Christopher

Simple! When dancing with ChrisA or Andy McG, I always step back on the foot that they lead me to step back on. Which is more often than not the right. (Dancing with John Eastman is interesting, as he leads the left). However, not all men are as clear in their intentions...

Surely, she'll step back on the foot you lead her to step back on?

Ok preaching to the choir here, but for the Freddie's benefit;

If i've just led the lady to step back on her left foot and I immediately lead a basket, it's probably not going to be as smooth as it would have been if I'd led her back on her right foot. (I think). It'll still work though and there are exceptions to the rule. For quite a while I just led moves with no consideration as to which foot the lady had just stepped back on  .

Oh and Freddie, whatever you do, don't ask which foot the lady should step back on for the first move

Hope that helps,
Christopher
