for the benefit of those none singletons who, in no more than 50 words, can give a synopsis of the Singletons Sofa thread (as it is already up to 6000+ posts....)please:blush:

As I have to fit in dancing and golf to my otherwise hectic life and in case I haven't mentioned it I going to Lanzarote for week of golf too.

Thankyou in anticipation

The opposite sex is a mystery, therefore we are single and talk random cr@p on all sorts of stuff both relevant and irrelevant to the single state, give us chocolate.

30 words (well, 32 including those. 36 now... actually, do numbers count as words?)

In my opinion it has turned into a relatively non descript, dull thread where people talk about things that could and should be done either over the phone or by pm... ie what are you doing this weekend? ... Nothing.... wanna go to the movies... Yes... okay... etc ...

I dont even bother reading it anymore.

Of course this 'spin off' can knick the good ideas from it

Unfortunately, it's not the only thread on the forum to be frequently diverted in this way. Just the longest one. Now, if all the "witty innuendo" (by which I mean heavy-handed yawningly-obvious soft porn) and public personal conversation could be restricted to the Singletons' Sofa...

I do occasionally try to haul it back to the bad old days of general shooting the s*** but it ain't happening :(

You know, there's another thread that fits exactly that description?

I think I did a synopsis for that too. :innocent:

But frankly, for the SS, I couldn't possibly post a better synopsis than:

when you are on your own, and just need to make contact with someone, and you get a response to a post your not on your own anymore:flower:
Awww. :flower: :worthy:

In other words, criticize it once you create a 6,000-post thread...

To me the Singleton's Sofa is just a simple place where folks can chat with their forum pals (maybe making new ones along the way), about anything at all, without anyone giving them grief about whether their posts are on-topic.

Simply put, it's just a nice place to hang out from time-to-time. :nice:

when you are on your own, and just need to make contact with someone, and you get a response to a post your not on your own anymore:flower: Good point. If you are having a less than wonderful day there is always someone there to give you a virtual

Sounds a bit mushy I suppose, but if it makes people feel a bit better by some shared goodwill from other dancers then I think its a good 'place'.

:yeah: too!

Some good points, well made. All I have to add is that it's the same as any other thread; if you don't like it, don't read it - simple! :D

As thread starter I had no preconceived ideas about SS but noting the vast quantity of posts and not being a singleton I wanted a synopsis to try and get a feel for what it was about without reading 6000+ posts.

I get the feel it is a nice place to be and many get great comfort out of it so it gets a big thumbs up from me.
