Having never done anything like this before, my husbands taking part in the largest ever televised race to the North Pole.
He's going to be walking across 320miles of the Arctic! (i know he wants a break from my nagging but i think this is a bit extreme!) It'll take him about 3 weeks.
Apparently more people have reached the summit of Everest than have done this challenge, so you can see how extraordinary this once in a lifetime experience is.
To fund the team and raise money for charity they are looking for businesses that might want to part sponsor the team. Also ideas for donation prizes to raise money at an auction which will be at a big party night with live bands, in February.
The other key fund raising event will be a dance in London, also in February, this is in the process of being organised but the DJ line up is looking very exciting!!
If anyone has any contacts, ideas or can help in any way please PM me.
Thanks, Di x

If your price is a fair one (which I'm sure it will be) I will forego my usual bleat about concession prices.

Also, what's the charity? If it's the "Buy Cruella new dances shoes" charity then I'm expecting free snacks, drinks, blah, blah, blah as well at the event

On the 14th January Mr Cruella is going to Austria for a week of specialised training for his Polar challenge. Including shooting training (to help avoid killing the polar bears if attacked :tears: ) and jumping into an icebath!

Help wanted!! The planned venue for the charity dance we are running is not available!
Anyone that knows of a suitable venue (preferably in london) and has a possible contact please PM me. Ideally we are trying not to clash with other events, so we would like to work towards the 4th February. Other dates offered are still a possibility though.
Thanks :flower:

Interestingly, one of the Ceroc staff at the ISH last night was wearing a jacket with patches/logos for this. I asked him about it, but he said the jacket had been a present.

Building on the success of the Polar Freezestyle which raised £1,500 for Macmillans Cancer Relief, The Team Oldhouse are now aiming to raise £100,000 for The Shooting Stars Childrens Hospice. To help achieve this they have set up an innovative web site. www.polarpixels.co.uk Please click here to have a browse.
It allows you to donate online by buying pixels which can then be used to advertise and link to a business or personal website. The pixels can be of any picture or logo you choose.
So far, in just 2 weeks, £3,100 has been donated from lots of businesses, family and friends. With just 13 days to go before they set off for the North Pole it would be great for morale to see that amount rise. :flower:
