"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a little better; whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is the meaning of success."

Ralph Waldo Emerson

I chose it because I had to think of a daily quote (it has become my reason for living), because I liked the line in the film and because Elisha Cuthbert is really really fit.

And no, in the end you find out that an awful lot of things simply weren't worth the time and effort. So you try not to do them again.

I can assure you I would never have wondered. Perhaps I would have wondered about why it rains or why girls have different bodies, but not about the equations.

Sometimes what you get out is less than what you put in. It happens and that's all there is to it. It shouldn't crush you or be a cause for concern, it's just the way it is.

But sometimes what you get out is far more than you put in and they are the great things that you should cherish. Or some less sentimental *******s

I prefer to believe that Mr K ( a true gent who I would never have to call out) is making the point that people bleat on about freedoms but rarely make use of the most important ones that they have. Most people think very much in society defined norms and never go outside those parameters and discover new ways of thinking and original ideas. Instead they fool themselves into believing that a freedom of speech is more important to enable other people to tell them of these great and original ideas. But if the majority of people think alonmg similar lines, the ability to be able to tell people what they already believe seems a poor exchange.

Cats are selfish to the point of being psychopathic and most of the above implies some form of concern for the welfare of other beings. I suspect her thoughts hinged more on where her next meal is coming from, whether she can get away with sleeping on the arm of the sofa without falling off like last time and working out how to beat the other cats to the prize seat on the hood of the fish tank. OK, you win, all that actually sounds pretty sensible, if you're a cat.
