So, the DJs put on yet another non-MJ track in a row and you can hear that the rhythm isn't going to fit a regular set of moves...

given that you've already led half a dozen faux cha-cha's, danced WCS ignoring the foxtrot tracks quicks and slows (which just feels like dancing through several tens of breaks), and swivelled the lady till she's started to look poorly to match the jazz syncopation...

what can you do that's:
a). going to fit the music
b). something vaguely relaxed (for both of you)
c). not a complete kludge, e.g. using arms to lead the lady into ochos
d). doesn't rely on you both knowing, e.g. samba, merengue, or slow foxtrot

Suggestions welcome'd

Both take off your shoes. Then lob them at the DJ (on the beat, of course).

I tend to save that in case there's soul music.

A possibility in hold for a foxtrot -- but maybe not for a merengue?

Chose a song you both like and dance to that. Ignore the music being played entirely. I find it helpful to tell the lady you're doing this

Seriously though I do this occassionally. I ask someone for another dance they smile and say "Yes" and then their face falls when the next track starts and they hate it. "No problem, we'll dance to something else" Had some lovely dances like this - actually thinking about it I can't think of any dances when I did this that weren't good

Is that what those people are doing who seem to be everywhere but on the beat..?
