I will be visiting Paris next month.
and it would be nice to dance at least one night whilst I am there.
Has anyone on the forum danced in Paris and can they recomend anywhere to dance where a mere cerocer won't feel out of place?

A couple of years ago I was in Paris and danced the night away at Le Caveau de la Huchette, 5 Rue de la Huchette ( nearest Metro is St Michel).
It was tiny, and the music varies from night to night - sometimes there's a DJ, sometimes a jazz band, but the dancing is recognisable as a "modern jive" variant - no doubt someone more expert than me could be more specific - but your Ceroc moves would not be out of place.
You could also try some of the venues listed on www.danse-a-2.com - I'm sure Franck would help you with the translations if necessary.

Peter,
When you're dancing... be mindful of your footwork and don't kick anyone!!

The Website JohnS mentioned is the one to look at.
I found a venue at the Cité Univesitaire (sp?), which was absolutely packed with young people (the first time I've ever felt old at a dance event). Really good fun it was, but be careful because it is somewhat different from Ceroc even though it looks quite similar at first. Ceroc was a new dance when it came to the UK rather than just a straight copy of what they do in France. The French Jive they do in Paris has a rythym that is more akin to Lindihop, and you tend to find the dance to alot more fast rock'n'roll music.
I could have this muddled up but I think that technically speaking Ceroc is danced with a 4/4 time where-as Original French Jive is danced with a 6/8 time.

I hope I haven't kicked you in the past.
I do tend to be clumsy at times.
but I am only learning.

Careless .... no dancing .... surely that is no excuse to get engaged to the young lady, wouldn't a box of chocolates and an apology got you off the hook??
Seriously though, congratulations.
