Private Tuition at Dance Weekends

I’m thinking of booking up private tuition for the girlfriend and myself at Bognor if it’s available.

How much does it cost? and for how long?

Minnie M. was organising the selling of PRIVATES at Camber on behalf of the teachers at the weekend. From memory it was £40 an hour I think!

I think you need to go to the private lesson with an idea of what aspect of your dance you want to work on, as none of will become a complete Nigel Anderson in one private lesson.

IMHO they are the best way to learn - I've had 2 privates, one with Vicktor - he's is fantastic BTW!!! and another for lambada, both taught me so much and I feel improved my dancing no end (ok little fib - i find the first few weeks after a private my dancing goes downhill temporary as I'm thinking about so much!! :blush: )

While I've had a fair few private dance lessons I've only ever had one at a dance weekender. Julie and I booked an hour with Jenny & Ricardo at Camber Nov 04 and it was very useful.

Normally we have private lessons with teachers that know our dancing. We'll discuss and agree the subject matter with them at least a few days before the lesson so they can work out the best way of addressing it. You don't have that opportunity at a weekender so I'd agree that you should go to the lesson with a clear set of priorities in your own mind. However, it's also important that you get the teacher's take on what will make the most difference to your dancing. You'll probably be invited to start the lesson by having a dance with the teacher or your partner. The teacher will probably then ask you what you think you should work on and also, having experienced your dancing, suggest what they think will make the most difference. After a bit of discussion you'll agree on the subject matter and away you go!

Me too! Private lessons are great, but be prepared to be exhausted afterwards and have enough material to keep you practicing for months. Have fun.

I have been wanting to improve my spinning technique and had a private with Amir at Camber. Very helpful and I have plenty of things to go away and work on. I would say the main thing is to know what exactly you want to work on in the private before the lesson, and focus on that, that way its most productive.

A private is the opportunity to learn someone's speciality. You must set your targets and ask your preferred tutor to aim for them.

:yeah: I was told that a sign of a good instructor is whether s/he asks you what you want to achieve at the beginning of the private lesson. That way, it'll clear up any ambiguities and both the dancer and the teacher would feel satisfied at the end of the lesson.

As UnderPar has said above, I will be taking bookings for Private Lessons at Bognor

You can book private time with any of the teachers who will be teaching at the event (with the exception of those who are too busy/tired etc)

Bookings are made per teacher for up to 2 couples in half half or one hour slots. prices are per slot, not per person - and it doesn't need to be what they are teaching that weekend, eg: Viktor was taking private Salsa classes and Roi and Anna taught Ballroom Tango and the Foxtrot

It is a brilliant idea and was very very popular and I would think it will be as popular at Bognor.
