I have read several forumites who have said they had not seen a thread until quite late.
I believe this may be a result of how you view the forum.
If you use the ""recent post" button which appears in a variety of places dependant on which skin you use, you will see every recently updated thread.
Repeating the use of this button means you will always see all the most "recent" postings from your fellow formites and saves you sifting through lots of different forums, where you might miss a thread.
