Hi All

I have just had to wipe hard drive on laptop and send in for repair :tears:

I have just loaded itunes onto a second laptop. All my music is on my Ipod. Anyone know how to load it back onto the second laptop :worthy:

According to the help screens - you should consolidate music library and copy to ipod etc... but these instructions only appear to apply to changing pc's and still having acces to music library on first pc, which I obviously do not

The way the software works:
- take a PC/ or Mac
- take your music library
- synchronise with iPod
Because of DRM (digital rights management) you can only keep your iPod in sync with one computer.
If you have enable hard drive use, then your iPod becomes available as an external hard drive.
I have seen references to 'hacks' on the Internet.

Good luck!

I found that on a windows based machine if I have the iPod enabled as disk then I can get in and find all the songs - the filenames don't match, but the id3 tags are still in place.

You need a program called Sharepod.exe

available here:

http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/SharePod-Download-15478.html

You keep it on the iPod, rather than on your PC.

Works fabby.

Ok, maybe someone can solve the following: just got a Nano (yum) and loaded iTunes 6 onto my laptop. Am filling it with tracks and loading them onto the Nano, but the peculiar thing is that when I play music from my laptop hard-drive through iTunes it comes out wonky, crackly, etc.!!!! If I play a CD through iTunes it's fine. The music I put on the Nano through iTunes is fine. But play music on the laptop and there's a problem. Any suggestions?

The IT guy at work has done a diagnostic on the laptop and can't spot any problems and his verdict is therefore that "iTunes must be crap"! I don't have problems when I play music through Windows Media Player but I have noticed that when I turn on the laptop the Windows wake up sound is also wonky. Is there a connection? I'd assumed this meant Spyware, but none found.

Help. :flower:

is the sound wonky with other programs/games etc.. ? it may be a driver issue!

someone told me you need a sharepod (hardware) if you ever want to take music off your ipod onto something else... is that pants then?

There's nothing to stop anyone copying the data off the iPod. The only difficulty is that Apple's software won't do it for you. But lots of third-party applications will, like sharepod.exe (link above).
