Club night Vegas is coming to Aberdeen next month. Already a massive success in Glasgow and Edinburgh, I wonder if anyone can give me an idea of what to expect.

Do many of you cerocers out there make this a regular date in your diary? All feedback welcome!

Never been myself, but some friends went along to Vegas at the Renfrew Ferry and they had a great time. It does help if you wear the appropriate gear, however

There is a website full of pictures by the Vegas people at

http://www.ren-com.com/vegas/viprooom.htm

That should give you some idea of the dress code, if nothing else...

Hi Amanda,

I went to the last Vegas night at the Renfrew and had an absolutely fantastic time. Basically it's an excuse to dress up: Vegas show girl, glam, posh frock, whatever, just take a feather boa. For the guys it's more the Frank Sinatra or Elvis look. At the ferry there's not much space to dance (and the floor's not good) but there was a bit of swing/ceroc going on. The rest of the dancing is the usual two-step shuffle accompanied by singing your heart out to 40s and 50s swing. Fantastic night guaranteed!

I'm away for the next one in Glasgow (2nd May) but should kicking about for the one after (25th May) if there are any cerocers in the area and are looking for a dance partner....

Hope this is of use!

Have fun and don't forget your boa!

VEGAS NIGHT!

Glasgow Saturday 25th May

WHO'S COMING???

Hi all,

Anyone up for coming out to play on Saturday night at the Renfrew Ferry Vegas Night?

Last time I went we had a GREAT time and the only thing missing out of my evening was the occasional "proper" dance to break up the "two-step shuffle". Anyone fancy it?

If you're someone who likes to ceroc all night then be warned that there isn't a huge amount of dance floor space, but there's enough for the odd dance!

If you want more information the Vegas website is: http://www.vegasscotland.co.uk/

It starts at 9:30 and you're best turning up before 10:30 to get in (although tickets can be bought in advance - see the website). Tickets are £8.

If anyone's up for it I'll go and buy some shoes that I can ceroc in (suede soles on beer not a good idea; alcohol + 3" heels + dancing also not a good idea..)

Go on, plan your next weekend on Monday!

I managed to join in the fun after the Aberdeen party last Saturday, and had a brilliant time. It reminded me of the Saturday night before the Champs in London.
Even though half the music was not "really" cerocable, it added to the fun, as I managed (for the first time ever I think) to Ceroc to what was clearly a Waltz beat...

I was surprised that the night was not that busy, all the better for Cerocers to take over, and judging by their drunken attempts, a lot of "non-cerocers" (Muggles?) where keen to try partner dancing. I wonder how many will turn up over the next few weeks.

Shame the next Glasgow Vegas night clashes with Edinburgh's party night with the Team Cabaret display though

For those in the Edinburgh area, there is a Vegas Swings! night in the The Claremont Hotel, Claremont Crescent, Edinburgh this Friday (24th May 2002)

There's a swing dance lesson between 8-9 too.

See http://www.ren-com.com/vegas/index.htm

They could not give free tickets fast enough to most Cerocers, so I suppose they want us back.

Vegas was cool. Especially when you get to escort 5 babes and Holly Golightly...:D

Anyway Franck, just wanted to post to say that I think dancing with a hat is a doddle! Never lost it once, even in the tunnel :p

Never lost it once, even in the tunnel :p Ah, indeed, it is possible and sometimes even fun to dance with a hat, but the crux for me is the Comb... You are able to do the Comb, but somehow it is not the same when you have to account for the brim of the hat.

Glad to hear you had a good time at Vegas. :waycool:

Thanks to Stuart for keeping me dancing all night (even if I had had a few drinks... )

It would be great to see a few more cerocers there next time - 22nd June in Glasgow, which doesn't clash with the Edinburgh party.:waycool:

'till next month,

Is everyone meant to dress up Vegas style, whatever that is? Some help here please cos it sounds like a fab night.

Cheers

Possibly the best dance night IÕve ever had in Aberdeen
The setting is the Vegas casinos
The girls are dressed up and the music is fantastic
Vegas style is what you make it
Long dress and feather boa
Show girl type outfit and any thing in between

ItÕs on to three in the morning.
Its also the Night of the Aberdeen Ceroc Party
So you can easily go to both
And it not filled with cerocers Yet!

The zoot suit will have to wait a while
As I am going thru a state of morphing
(changing size and shape)
but watch this space you never know

I'm watching and waiting with baited breath!

I could do with a bit of morphing myself so any good tips?? Take it this is positive morphing???

Got that feather boa looked out and going to do my best to go to the July forum night. See ya there:grin:

It's that time again folks!!!

I received an e-mail this morning reminding me that Vegas is on in Aberdeen on 15th June at the Forum. It also said that there would be a prize for the best dancers. (I don't think they realise what they've let themselves in for!!!) So get your dancing shoes on and feather boas at the ready!

For anyone living down Glasgow way, our next night is NEXT WEEK (22nd June, Renfrew Ferry). I'm definitely going (the outfit is a new and improved version of the last one...) and I'm looking for some people to dance with! Anyone fancy it?

And for those over in Edinburgh your next night is the week after that, 29th June at Ego.

If anyone wants more info and a look at the photos the Vegas site is www.vegasscotland.co.uk.

Hope you have a great time - I'm looking forward to it already! (and yes, I do have a life but I'm still looking forward to it!!)

Enjoy!!

I have never, never lost a partner whilst dancing!
ItÕs at this point I must apologies to Jean, while dancing on Saturday night
(The DJ was playing a Jump Jive number- 110Mp/Hr)
I returned Jean long; the couple close to us did the same move,
the ladies clashed and Jean tripped and ended on the floor

She got up and regained her usual grace and continued to dance
At the end we were approached by The Man,
who said we had won two tickets to see Burt Bacharach in Edinburgh
It was another great night

John,

Well done on the Burt Bacharach tickets! A handsome prize I think you'll agree!

I am pretty sure that Bill & partner also won at the previous Aberdeen Vegas night!
Well done to all of you
Ceroc does look brilliant, and really impresses the socks off other dancers :nice:

Now Vegas is over in Aberdeen, just a quick reminder that tomorrow Saturday 22nd is the Aberdeen Ceroc party, so wear your best outfits and boogie on down to the Deaf Society!

Franck.

P.S. I am back posting after a horrible couple weeks with infection / anti-biotics / pain killers / etc... Could barely cope with the basics, so did not manage to post on the forum, though I was reading and keeping up with the very active threads.

Hi Franck,

sorry about the distraction. You're correct - there is a party night in Aberdeen tomorrow. I'm sure John & Jean will be showing their winning style!

(But if anyone's kicking about in the Glasgow area tomorrow with nothing to do.... )

Hope you have a great time in Aberdeen!

Thought I should let you know. One of the guys I work with went to the last Vegas night and loved it. But apart from that he asked me if I still went to Ceroc dancing cos he had seen some folk doing what he found out to be Ceroc, thought it was amazing and he and his wife want to join! So folks you must have looked pretty damn good. Good way of advertising Ceroc too. Maybe you should have a little poster on hand! Anyway the next one I believe is on 13 July so I will try to persuade a few other non-Cerocers to come along and see what fun it is.

Cheers

Actually, going by Saturday night at Vegas, some advertising definitely wouldn't go amiss - later on some folk were trying to copy Jayne and me, with predictably painful results for them ... :tears:

Not that we need to defend ourselves or anything, but Vegas won out over the Ceroc party this month because the Ceroc party moved to the third week - normally they don't clash in Glasgow so we can make both :nice: .

Anyway, great fun - especially when you win concert tickets
