View Full Version : New Years Eve 2005 Whats on? Where to go?

under par

Okay 2 months left until the end of the year 2005.

What events are planned ? Where? is the most happening place to be? Who is going to be where with whom?

Is the Hogmanay and first footing north of the border going to be better than the cider drinking in Devon and Cornwall?

Will the choirs in the Welsh valleys be more festive than the tinsel that is London??

(oh what cr@p you write when you have been up all night eh!)

If last year's is anything to go by, it will be brilliant, and as John says , it's by the airport, so some of you foreigners can easily catch a plane up here and see how NEW YEAR is really celebrated in style!

I'll be on my own, but there's sure to be lots of lovely, handsome guys for me to dance with!

Absolutely no idea ! I was just mentioning it.

Adam is back so maybe you can raise it with him or Tezi on Monday.

Methinks the idea was for people to be able to pop along, chill, chat, dance etc so methinks ticketing might sort of defeat that ... but this is only my opinion and you'll need to speak to the boss!

I know what you mean - but as that was the only MJ event on that day, well, anywhere, there seemed to be about 2,000 people converging on All Saints last year...

We'll start charging you to demo the Salsa classes if you really want ?

btw, methinks there will have to be a door counter this year and numbers will be limited in the hall. Maybe also manage to get the rear hall suitably kitted out so that it'll be danceable ... but don;t quote me on that - need somewhere for nibbles too!

(I posted this info originally on another thread, but it better belongs here...)

Hogmanay's in Scotland's gonna be good! Starts on the 29th with the "Farewell to the Henry Wood Hall" party in Glasgow... (Oh, and the 30th is also someone's birthday...)

And as Dance Demon said back in post #10, there's going to be a New Year Ball in Edinburgh (presumably on Hogmanay?) organised by Boogienights and Demon Enterprises... (Can't guarantee I'll make that one. I normally do Hogmanay with my non-dancing friends.)

There'll be lots of other stuff to do too. :D

That'd be good - but obviously we'll need pink armbands for girls and blue armbands for boys, so we can tell each other apart, surely no self-respecting ceroc event could do otherwise...

Ealing is about 19 minutes' drive (can you tell I do it a lot?) from North Finchley in good (i.e. light) traffic.

Round the A406, up the A1000, right at the lights after B&Q, sorted.

If I can't get to Scotland - I will be at Woking (HG Wells)

The two largest and best NYE dances in the area were Rebel Roc and Ceroc+ (nee Fleet/Jivebug) now all under the Ceroc Surrey banner there will only be the one

It will be a fab evening and I know they will sell out - so get your tickets early  :yeah:

Does anyone else feel the same?

Me!

Its always such an anti-climax, you spend ages thinking you've got to do something spectacular, then it never is, and being single, you spend time worrying about who you'll be able to do that spectacular thing with!

More than hating new years eve though, I hate dancing on new years eve! New Years Eve dances are always rubbish (IMO). Personally, I like to go to a friends house, be it a big party or a small gathering, get very drunk, and chat to friends. The only traditional thing I like is listening to Big Ben, and singing Old Lang Zyne.

I agree that £15 is a bit over-the-odds, considering the shorter time and no food, but OTOH, it must have been a nightmare to organise, and I doubt Franco can cut his costs in half just like that, so I think he's done the right thing.

Let's hope it gets sorted out soon...

HAPPY NEW YEARA friend of my son bade everybody "Happy Christmas" as he left the pub. He staggered, just a little bit. It was the only time my son had ever seen him show any signs at all of having been drinking. That night he fell down the stairs at home and died of a broken neck.

And fab value - mulled drink and shortbread on arrival, live band (who were very good) for several hours, buffet supper at 10:30pm with soft drinks, tea/coffee and nibbles at 12:30am to chill out after the dancing - all for £5! :worthy:

I hope you all enjoy the New Year, all of it, and many more. Take care.He was known locally as "Jack the Hat", because he always wore a hat, even when he streaked naked down the embankment. "It was a miserable Sunday, and I wanted to cheer people up." "Jack" was a book lover. He used to leave books where he finished them, usually in a pub, with a note saying "Read me.". He helped out in the local Oxfam bookshop, where his knowledge helped identify rare and valuable books, and so raise more money. "Jack" died Christmas day, and left more than memories and his children. His kidneys and heart valves were transplanted after his death into a 14 year old boy, a 40 year old man, and a lady in her sixties. "Jack" was an organ donor.
