 I have been asked to appear in my companies Christmas spoof video... oh deep joy how did i get so lucky
There is 1 person from all our offices across the country, so getting together to rehearse is difficult, so they have sent us the dvd to learn the dance from.
It is Britney Spears - Hit me Baby one more time!
yay i get to wear a school uniform
Does anyone have any tips for learning that from a dvd?

Can you change it to I love (like?) rock 'n roll? If so, Mandy (I think) did a routine to it at Camber April 2004, so you could learn the moves from the DVD for the lesson and also the cabaret in the evening.

Good luck!

No, but I'd pay good money for a copy.

Oooooh sounds like fun :D I'd say watch it at least 10 times and try to get some of it in your memory. If you can slow it down too then that would help as you could then take it a section at a time and just keep replaying it. Learning it bit by bit then putting it all together. Link up the words with the routine so it's easier to remember, you do know the words, right? It's all probably a bit repetitive anyway. That's what i'd do.

Yes, I have the CD single with the video (was going to get rid of it, then read that it was a good track for WCS). I agree. Replay it and pause and replay at the critical bits. I'd say find a short sequence that is typically Britney (maybe the first part, where she's in the school corridor, and concentrate on learning that section really well - you can always repeat it or vary it.
I did think, when I first saw it, what a really good dancer she was..

Some companies will teach you "pop music dancing" - eg, danceat8 in my area, and I'm sure others too. Have you thought of phoning one up? They might already teach that dance anyway. If they don't, they might be willing to look at the video for you, and work it in to a session. Maybe even a private lesson or two - who knows?

All a bit OTT for some company video, I guess, but if a job's worth doing?

:yeah: and check in a mirror that what 'feels' like you copying the moves actually resembles the video.

What's the going rate, nowadays then?

Seriously, from what I recall, she's got more of a Jazz dancing style thing than partner dancing - totally different. So it's almost start-from-scratch time.

I agree that the mirror thing is a good tip - ideally, get someone to video you (and others), then compare that video with the Britney video. There's no substitute for seeing yourself dancing.

Judging by the problems you had yesterday with your trousers falling down you're not going to look like a fat frump!

Oh my goodness, it was fabulous! They put it all together really well, They made me look really good (which took some doing cos I didn't have a mask on CJ)

It was so funny.

I was really pleased with it. Only 3 things ruined the evening.

1. Someone put their stiletto through my ball gown :tears:
2. I got really really P1$$ed
3. We came 2nd in the competition :what:

Should get a copy of it within the next few weeks so I will arrange a viewing somewhere, sometime
