Thanks for that evocative description, Will, it'll stay with me. I mean a freshly bathed, fluffy, little head of baby's hair, to be more accurate. Not when they're smeared with stale, milky sick and have a gippy tummy and a leaking nappy, obviously.

Am not sure how to describe this, but it's the smell of Autumn.

The air changes and, I think, the smell of the falling leaves, plants and trees changing make the smell but I don't know...

I just know it reminds me of when I used to think that I had a red glow when I went out in the mornings after my Redibreak and of my birthday (which in Autumn) as a kid...

Oh, oh... And fresh toast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love the smell of ashphalt when it rains after a really hot day (not sure you really get it much here in the UK).

But in Austalia, up in the Northern Territory during the wet season, you might have a 42 degree C day and then it just buckets with rain. As the rain hits the road it is just the most amazing smell.

Oh and I like the smell of Vicks (it reminds me of my Nan) and the smell of Lavender always reminds me of my mum putting lavender on a handkerchief in my pillow when I wasn't feeling well when I was little.

We get something like it after a hot, dry spell when the rain first hits the layer of rubber particles ground into the roads.

Something I can't stand the smell of is Fish and Chips.

When I was a student, I lived for one year in a bedsit over a chipshop. The smell first thing in the morning of the congealed fat and all the rubbish used to turn my stomach, and still does even though it was over 20 years ago.
