I particularly like this one as a Tango - sort of has the right atmosphere.

Some things are possible - doesn't mean they're desirable.

It is you (Theme from Shrek) - Waltz
I hear this played quite a lot at classes. I was thinking from the intro it was something Scottish and a few decades old, and it turns out to be ...

In one class a while ago, everyone seemed to be laughing for no obvious reason. It turned out some Wombles song was being played. Think it might have been a cha.

You'd be correct...
I have it if you're interested (it was a strong contender for our frog routine).
The muppets album has some fantastic dance music!

I guess all those quicksteps in SCD, bar possibly Colin and Erin's, come under this category - I struggled to hear the rhythm, poor blokes. I wonder if this is someone trying to say "hey, ballroom is modern and funky?"

The BBC have kindly posted all the tracks used here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/strictlycomedancing/news/2005/10/17/26047.shtml) - unfortunately it doesn't say what dance was done to what track. So, being a public service provider, I'll do the honours:

Quickstep:

You Can't Hurry Love - Paul Collins
Nice Work If You Can Get It - Sting
Let Me Entertain You - Robbie Williams (I didn't think this worked to well, but what do I know)
I'm So Excited - Pointer Sisters
Something Got Me Started - Simply Red

Rumba:

Always Here - Tara McDonald
How Could An Angel Break My Heart - Toni Braxton
She - Elvis Costello
One Moment In Time - Whitney Houston
Holding Back The Years - Simply Red
Do Your Thing - Basement Jaxx

Cha-cha:

Save the Last Dance - Michael Buble
Crazy Chick - Charlotte Church
Hot Stuff - Donna Summer
Music - Madonna
Something Got Me Started - Simply Red
Love Potion No.9 - The Coasters

Waltz:

Sam - Olivia Newton John
When I Need You - Leo Sayer
Fly Me to the Moon - Buddy Grecco
Take it to the Limit - The Eagles
Lady - Kenny Rogers
When the Girl in Your Arms - Cliff Richard

Hmmm, you're right - the BBC page is wrong, it says James and Camilla danced to that track on Show 1 and Show 2, so one of them is presumably incorrect.

I'll dig out my video...

Sometimes it depends on what version of the song it is as well. You know these days when they release a song, they have the song, the dance mix, the unplugged mix the live version, the acapella version etc...
I've heard the theme to the titanic used as a cha, by slowing the speed of the dance version. Recreational drug use does have its down sides...

A couple more:
- "Just my imagination", Smokey Robinson - possible Rumba?
- "Singing in the rain", Mint Royale mix, definitely a cha-cha.
