I am The Lovers

The Lovers often refers to a relationship that is based on deep love - the strongest force of all. The relationship may not be sexual, although it often is or could be. More generally, the Lovers can represent the attractive force that draws any two entities together in a relationship - whether people, ideas, events, movements or groups.

I am The Chariot

The Chariot often appears when hard control is or could be in evidence. At its best, hard control is not brutal, but firm and direct. It is backed up by a strong will and great confidence. The Chariot can mean self-control or control of the environment. This card also represents victory. There are many types of wins; the Chariot's is of the win-lose type. Your success comes from beating the competition to become number one. Such moments are glorious in the right circumstances.

She can be an individual mother, but as a major arcana card, she also goes beyond the specifics of mothering to its essence - the creation of life and its sustenance through loving care and attention. The Empress can also represent lavish abundance of all kinds. She offers a cornucopia of delights, especially those of the senses - food, pleasure and beauty. She can suggest material reward, but only with the understanding that riches go with a generous and open spirit. The Empress asks you to embrace the principle of life and enjoy its bountiful goodness, and looks good in a skirt.</p>

I am The Hierophant

The Hierophant often represents learning with experts or knowledgeable teachers. This card also stands for institutions and their values. The Hierophant is a symbol of the need to conform to rules or fixed situations. His appearance in a reading can show that you are struggling with a force that is not innovative, free-spirited or individual. Groups can be enriching or stifling, depending on circumstances. Sometimes we need to follow a program or embrace tradition, other times, we need to trust ourselves.

I would probably manage to apply any description to myself in some way, but I was quite pleased with this one:

I am Strength

Strength represents patience and compassion. Getting angry is easy when events turn sour, but dealing calmly with frustration takes great strength. So does accepting others and forgiving mistakes. We need strength to mold situations softly. The Chariot controls through mastery and authority. Card 8 is more subtle, even loving. Notice how the lion (itself a symbol of strength) is being guided and tamed by the woman's gentle hands.

I work with violent offenders with psychiatric problems. It tends to take patience, compassion and acceptance.

Mind you, I'm probably hell to live with!!

The numerology "system" that's being used is biased towards certain cards of the major arcana, which will occur more frequently when fed a selection of random dates.

Bangers & Mash
17th-September-2005, 03:40 PM
There will be a predominance of the major arcana cards from 1 to 9

Magician
High Priestess
Empress
Emperor
Hierophant
Lovers
Chariot
Strength
Hermit

I'm not certain why people are getting the Fool as his card is 0 and so you should only get that by entering 0's into the form.

The calculation is based on your date of birth, for example

23/8/1980 gives 23+8+1980 = 2011, 2+0+1+1 = 4 = The Emperor

However, in some cases you will have two cards, for example

21/8/1980 gives 21+8+1980 = 2009, 2+0+0+9 = 11 = Justice, but also 1+1 = 2 so also High Priestess

---

There is a belief that the Tarot was originally the bible of an illiterate population and was used to pass knowledge from generation to generation in picture form. When Christianity first came to Europe the church tried to ban cards because but failed, so they brought out their own pack of Tarot cards called the stations of the cross. In the early 18th century a fascination with numerology (the meaning of numbers) led to the fool being added to the major arcana as card zero bringing to number of cards in the pack to 78 (I forget the reasoning) and now the Major Arcana is supposed to tell the story of the journey of the fool on his path of enlightenment from Magician (I) to inheriting the World (XXI)

There will be a predominance of the major arcana cards from 1 to 9

It's a little more complicated than that, because:

In some cases you will have two cards, for example

21/8/1980 gives 21+8+1980 = 2009, 2+0+0+9 = 11 = Justice, but also 1+1 = 2 so also High Priestess

The program gives Justice (11) in this case, rather than high priestess (2), or both cards at once.

I'm not certain why people are getting the Fool as his card is 0

The program gives him a number of 22.

Bangers & Mash
18th-September-2005, 08:25 AM
I was quoting what SHOULD happen instead of what the program actually does.
