Though I know there's nothing most of us like more than a good rant, I thought it might be nice to have a sister-thread to Room 101 where you can nominate favourite things to be consigned to the Pantheon of Things That Make You Feel Good.

I'll start by nominating:

Chips (proper Chip Shop chips) with Hellmann's mayonnaise.

Cold beer.

Days off.

Strawberries/raspberries with thick thick cream.

Chocolate Nemesis *waves at ESG*

Marmite

Dancers you click with.

Un-put-downable books.

The sunshine :waycool:

Watching a really good movie where everything comes together: Believable and superbly tallented actors, location, storyline and audience participation-including tingles.

Really nice juicy oranges

Making someone smile with a few kind words

Learning how to do something for the first time and getting it right

Good friends and family

Happy memories

A nice drive in the country when it's really sunny and the scenery is beautiful.

And of course, last but not least: a really good dance where everything seems to come together and work

Umm...that's all I can think of just now, will post again when I think of more!

How about:
Shoes that don't hurt however many nights in a row you dance in them;
Playing Chopin, Brahms or Shostakovitch really loudly when no-one's around;
Friends so good you can have 'comfortable silences';
and of course
Reading the forum when you have so many things you should be doing instead...

REALLY GOOD ice cream ( Haagen Daz, Movenpick, Ben & Jerry's...)

Sunshine! :waycool:

Gorgeous sandy beaches

Swimming in the sea, when the water is the perfect temperature and crystal clear.

Good friends who are there for you when times are tough.....

Looking up and seeing your parachute canopy is fully deployed :worthy:

Taking off on a sunny, but cold, morning and the aeroplane leaps into the air (it's an air density thing  )

"Greasing" a landing (ie really smooth)

A really intense roller-coaster ride

An empty curving road and a good motorbike

when the present you buy her really hits the mark

When the right partner, the right tune and the right moves all click

As others have said ...
- sunshine that warms you all the way through (with a cold beer)
- hugs (and gentle stroking/patting, I'm really a cat in a human body)
- bed sheets - 100% cotton & freshly laundered
- blues dancing with someone you click with (and knowing without question that the next song is yours as well)

and ...
- great music from amazing musicians such as YoYoMa or Piazzola
- finding 'your' perfume
- pretty, matching lingerie
- dancing with a partner who recognises musical breaks but adds their own in appropriate rather than obvious places
- explaining something and seeing the 'lights go on' in the other person/inspiring them
- tulips
- watching someone change their life to better suit them and it working out/making them happier
- being in love
- Laurent Perrier rose champagne
- my mum, sister and 3-year-old niece
- drawing
- the first taste of chilled Vouvray

I like lying with 'someone' on their side of the bed too - when I turn over I get the lovely cool sheets to lie on and lots of leg room!

Looking into your partners eyes and seeing love looking at you.

Seeing your new born baby for the first time and watching her grow up.....from tiny waving hands to the teenager off for her first driving lesson.

Finding and keeping a good friend.

Trebarwith Strand (North Cornwall) with a beautiful sunset.

Fish leaping in a river on a lazy summer's night.

The sound of animals at dusk in the countryside.

The smell of new mown hay, roses, honeysuckle, and other scented plants.

The look of a perfect old English rose.

The first flush of English strawberries and raspberries.

Buying my first horse and seeing her eat a 'proper' meal for the first time in ages.

Managing to ride a canter half pass zig zig, a canter pirouette and a passage!

A roaring log or coal fire.

Snow!!!

The look of affection in a cats eyes, after you have fed them!

Oh and something to do with dancing!

- the smell of the first big wet dolops of rain sizzling on a hot pavement
- the close smell of damp hair {not on a dog though :sick:}
- the crumbly crunch and soft squidge when you take a bite out of a freshly baked loaf
- the small 'poof' sound as the seal on hot-chocolate is broken
- the rhythmic sound of waves sushing over sand
- the silence of night isolating the gentle clunking and slapping of waves on the keel
- the loud crush of constant churning noise the waves make on a pebble shore
- the boom and hiss of breakers as they throw themselves into the rocks and the taste of salt as your skin dampens from the sprey
- looking arround and seeing a perfectly flat horizon where there is only you, the sea and the sky.
- the sudden and peacefull scilence restoring as the bubbles from entering the water return.
- the warm glow and feeling of heat radiating from your body at the end of doing some strenuous (but fun) excercise {...yes, that too :devil:}
- getting lost in a drawing and only noticing time by the strange jumping of shadows.
- the laughter, talk and company of good friends

...mmmm.... :D :waycool:

My first post on the forum but I can relate to so much of what's been mentioned... some of mine are...

anywhere so long as it's in the company of friends

'connecting' with a dance partner... and when they smile it makes the heart sing... that feeling of leading a partner fingertip to fingertip.

Eating a warm, steaming bag of chips in paper on the way home after a night out...

subtle fragrance of a woman (probably a bit personal)

Wit

Walking a beach after a big storm

sunday mornings in bed with the papers and a cup of tea

did I mention anywhere so long as it's in the company of friends???

Some dance related ones:
- When you have promised the next track to someone, it comes on and is exactly the track that you would have picked for this partner.
- When a move just glides into a dip or extension in perfect time with the music.
- Putting your partner into a freespin and catching blind perfectly.
- Pulling off an 'ugly' or complex/disjointed move with smoothness and elegance.
- When someone actually seeks you out to dance with.
- Connecting/moving with your partner: dancing through body leads and 'presence' more than any hand hold or touch.
- Finishing a dance with a flourish/close-down that matches the music.
- When someone asks you for a consecutive dance.
- Doing something new or unusual with a move and having it 'click' and work.
- Submersing yourself completely in the music with the knowledge that your partner will come along for the ride and not cause you to break for air.
- That rushing feeling of the world coming back into focus after an amazing dance where you can bask in the afterglow.
- The comfortable feeling of dancing with someone you enjoy dancing with but haven't danced with in a long time.
- That moment in a dance with someone new where you just 'click' and the whole thing starts to move as if it was rehearsed.
- When a song comes on that gets you moving, you take a hand and are immediately in the middle of the dance (without the 'starting' moments of finding each other's rhythm and adjusting to your partner's connection)
- When someone complements you on your dancing out of the blue; especially when it's a dancer you respect/admire.
- When you are noticed by your absence.

:D these are the moments that I dance for...:waycool: the don't happen that often, but the more I dance, the better chance I have of encountering one/some of them.
