Hi Guys,
I need your help. :D

I am launching what should be the largest single contact point for dance in the UK, it will go live in about 3 weeks & will be found under www.danceindex.com

It is intended that people can visit our site & we will point them in the right direction, geographically & alphabetically, directly to other companies venues, via their own Web page, E-mail or postal address, or via other useful sites, i.e John Sweeney list etc.
We will then provide services, such as transport links; Plans Trains & Automobiles, Hotels, Restaurants, Dance Clothing companies, besides the links to all UK dance venues.

If you could recommend any companies or areas of interest near your venues it would be greatly appreciated, I am after this website working via a national recommendation list, I am always more comfortable eating somewhere if it was recommended by a friend, this is how I think Dancers should book their Hotels or Restaurants etc, when visiting alien Dance Venues. This is going to be the Dancers Friend on a National Basis, anything you want we will have it listed! It should all help to make fellow dancers visits to your venues much easier & more fun.
This list is not exhaustible, please feel free to add any other companies, you feel could be useful.

Dance type shops: clothing, shoes, art
D.JÕs, Bands
Other Dance Companies, Swing, Latin, Line Dancing, Ceili, Tap, Ballroom, etc.
Hotels, Clubs, Wine Bars, Restaurants, Health Clubs, Theatres
Taxi Companies
Fancy Dress Hire
Record Shops

All we require is an address & contact details.

My contact details are; keith@danceindex.com why not add us to your favourite list now! www.danceindex.com
Thanks again,
Keith & Janey of Chance 2 Dance

Keith,

For me, without seeing what sort of thing you mean, it's difficult to imagine what exactly you're looking for, and how to respond to this.

Could you possibly put up a 'taster' on the site, to give me (and maybe some other people), a better idea of how to respond.

It sounds like a marvellous idea though!!

You dont even have a front page yet !?

Are you going to allow people to make additions from a form on the web site itself - that'd be a good idea ! Assuming you have a database back end its far easier than getting emails and typing in the details - remove the middle man i say ! :)

Sorry Guys,

The idea is that if you know of a good Restaurant for example you could put it down as:

Channings Restaurant
12, South Learmonth Gardens
Edinburgh Midlothian
EH4 1EZ

www.channings.co.uk/
Tel: 0131 315 2225
¥ Excellent City Centre Location
¥ Friendliest Hotel In Edinburgh
¥ Contemporary French Cuisine
¥ Private Or Corporate Dining
¥ Exclusive & Warm Ambience
¥ Part Of The Town House Company

It doesn't have to be as in depth you my just comment on great Italian, or great for parties etc.

This will work with anything, i.e.
Salsa Dancing at:
Salsa Congress
XYZ St Contact www etc

Hope this helps & thanks again for your support :D

Come on, just because you can't see it?
It will be being launched in its entirety, no sneak previews..

Keith:wink: I think he means a page announcing your project... Does not have to be the official 'page' yet, but something other than the hosts' standard blurb... Even a logo with a launch date would look better.

Apart from that, I am sure your idea will be great. Hard work for you to keep it up to date and comprehensive, but ultimately very useful.

Good luck

Franck.

Hi D.S,
Sorry had to rush out befor, but in answer to your question;
It depends on what details you would like adding? If it's venue, special events etc then I don't see why not, I agree on cutting out the middle man!

Not me - what details would YOU like added :) it would be easier to have an easy form to enter information into :)

And Franck was right , I was talking about getting any sort of front page up rather than your webhosts standard one - people will never come back!
