Who else thinks that my wee diary thread (http://www.cerocscotland.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4797) just got just a little bit too big and stopped reading it?

Well if you want to read a condensed version of it, plus my continuing thoughts on my dance experience (including my first visit to Jumpin' Jaks tonight) follow this link (http://ducasi.org/blog/)!

I think it makes more sense to keep a diary-type-of-thing using web log software, rather than in a bulletin board, so in future I'll try to keep all my mega-long diary-type posts over there.

But don't worry, I'll continue to post here! :flower:

Oh, and if you find anything that doesn't work properly on the 'blog, please send me a PM.

Like the new layout and I see you went to JJ's  You can tell me about it tonite :nice:

So, you took my advice and made a blog...and you said it was a silly idea  It was something I had thought about from the start. A couple of downsides are that people (unless they subscribe to the RSS feed) have to speculatively go and read it, not knowing if there's anything new there, plus I have to maintain it, which isn't a trivial burden.

I decided to go for it though as I felt these posts better belonged in a blog-like format. In the forum, although there's lots of people who've said how much they enjoy reading my posts, there's going to be many more who find the length of the posts, plus the length of the thread they're in just too much. Thus, if they aren't going to read them, they might as well not read them in my blog, as not read them on the forums.

One other thing I get with my blog is total control – I decide on the look and feel of the site, I get to add my own smilies if I want to, I can edit my posts at any time and manage the comments as I wish. I get to be the power-crazed omnipotent admin, and I like it!

Like the new layout and I see you went to JJ's  You can tell me about it tonite :nice: The layout is just a default – when I'm really bored I'll re-do the blog to match the rest of my web site.

See you tonight. :nice: (BTW, why didn't you post your comment to the blog??? :really: )

Umm...well, you see...the truth is...i'm far too busy
In fact I really SHOULD start to revise now  But seeing as you value my opinion so much, I will post a comment, I think I can fit it in :innocent:

Can somebody please explain in laymans terms what a blog is?

(I'm sorry if it is explained elsewhere on another thread)

A blog is like an internet diary, which is good for people like me that find it hard to keep a regular one :tears:

Hope that explains it.

Can somebody please explain in laymans terms what a blog is? The simplest way of looking at it is as an on-line diary.

"Blog" is a shortened form of "Web log", and a "log", well that's just like the captain's log in Star Trek.

They're fashionable with journalists and wannabes that think just because other "bloggers" are reading what they write that it's going to make a difference to anything.

Me cynical? :innocent:

As a diary or journal I think they're quite useful – you can keep people up to date with what's going on in your life and at the same time make a record for yourself.

Because of the simplicity and flexibility of a typical blog system, an increasing number of what were custom-built web sites are becoming blogs.

For more than you'd ever want to know about them, consult this page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog).

Cheers!

Sorry that was me that kept you chatting during first freestyle when you could've been dancing  Pity you missed the last half hour, there were some particularly good tunes played! (Or is it because I was just waking up properly then...?) Maybe you can share a lift with some others coming over from Glasgow another time to keep the cost down. Agree trains expensive! :)

Sorry that was me that kept you chatting during first freestyle when you could've been dancing  No problem, I was glad to have the rest after Melanie's class. :nice: I was only just about ready when we got up to dance.

Pity you missed the last half hour, there were some particularly good tunes played! (Or is it because I was just waking up properly then...?) Steve always seems to do the business, doesn't he?

Maybe you can share a lift with some others coming over from Glasgow another time to keep the cost down. Agree trains expensive! :) Yup, and I found that I was ripped off, but I'll keep my rant on that subject to myself.

But I do hope to come back soon, maybe sometime in June. Any Glasgow folk going up, do let me know!

Cheers!

Two updates this time. One on my second visit to JJ's, and one about my dancing plans for the rest of the week (i.e. can anyone give me a lift to Edinburgh on Saturday? Please? :flower: )

Get 'em while they're hot (http://ducasi.org/blog/)!

Unfortunately I have to work in order to dance, though my job is a bit like a hobby – only I get paid! Why do you ask?

In case you haven't been following, I've posted a few articles on my blog (http://ducasi.org/blog/) since I last visited this thread.

And tonight I actually managed to write a relatively short post (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/06/07/its-tuesday-it-must-be-jjs/) about my night there at JJ's.

Thanks to everyone who has left comments, and thanks to you if you're about to...

Isn't it quiet round here this weekend? :really:

But, hey, who needs Southport (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/06/12/who-needs-southport/) to have a good time?

As well as having a great time last night at the Glasgow party, today I'll be enjoying the West End Festival's (http://www.westendfestival.co.uk/) Opening Parade and Street Party. (http://www.westendfestival.co.uk/festival_sunday.htm)

How have you been having fun this weekend outside of Southport?

What a difference a day makes! (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/06/15/what-a-difference-a-day-makes/)

Had a magic time tonight, such a contrast to yesterday, plus I invented a fun new move you should all try!

Also, your chance to say whether a laughing partner is good or bad...

(BTW, I just want to thank all the other cool people who've left comments on my blog. I really appreciate your encouragement. Cheers!)

It's time again for you to catch up with my blog. (http://ducasi.org/blog/)

Since we last met, I've had mixed fortunes (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/06/29/it-was-the-best-of-times/) which just kept giving. (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/06/30/it-just-keeps-giving/) :really:

Then this last week I've continued in my late habits, (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/07/05/late-again-to-jjs/) which resulted in a very mixed Wednesday when I missed out real bad, but it worked out real good in the end. (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/07/07/this-is-becoming-a-habit/) :nice:

On Thursday I was reminded of Gregory's Girl. (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/07/08/gregorys-girl/) :D

Most recently I have recounted the totally awesome day (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/07/10/awesome-day/) I had yesterday, with a second part (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/07/10/sheer-agony/) reliving the agony and ecstasy of dancing.

Hope you enjoy reading my ramblings, and if you do, please leave a comment. :flower:

(and you might even get a reply when I have some more time!)

Tired and unemotional (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/07/13/tired-and-unemotional/) tonight, but it was a weird night – one that brought no spare women!!! :what: :really:

Couple of new posts...

On Tuesday (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/07/19/stirling/) I took a wee trip to Stirling.

Yesterday (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/07/20/where-did-all-the-women-go/) I had some nasty things to say about a beginner () and wondered where all the women have gone...

Comments on my blog or if you prefer here are very welcome...

So much has happened!!!

At the weekend I had a really fab trip to Inverness (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/07/24/inverness/) where Franck is starting a new class.

On Monday night I watched Dirty Dancing (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/07/25/not-dirty-dancing/) and was a little disappointed.

On Tuesday night it felt like ages (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/07/27/how-long-has-it-been/) since I had been to JJ's, but I had a great time! Maybe it was the cool tunes, or the rather fine teacher who had come visiting us from Aberdeen.

On Wednesday night I went to the GUU (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/07/27/swirly-skirts/) where I decided that in future all lady Ceroc dancers should be made to wear swirly skirts! :yum:

Comments, as always welcome. Next update expected Sunday night... :nice:

Comments, as always welcome. Next update expected Sunday night... :nice: It's been a weird week so-far...

On Sunday I attended a mega workshop (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/07/31/mega-workshop/) which tried to teach me lots and lots of things. I had a really good time, but it was very hard.

Then through the week, on Tuesday, (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/08/03/brain-overload/) and yesterday, (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/08/03/brain-drain/) I found my brain had stopped working and things kept going bad.

Lots of other stuff was happening, but you'll have to read the posts to find out more...

(And maybe, please, can I have a few more comments so I know that the people reading my nonsense just haven't arrived there by mistake! :flower:)

Fantastic week last week!!!!

On Tuesday I was in demand for dances – perhaps because of my new shoes (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/08/09/new-shoes/)?

(Photo of shoe(s) is here (http://www.cerocscotland.com/forum/showthread.php?p=141454#post141454), amongst some glowing tributes to them. )

Wednesday was a storming night where I got challenged on my musicality (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/08/10/i-did-hit-the-break/).

The party on Saturday (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/08/14/party/) was just the best ever.

I just love dancing! :D

It's catch up time!

Wa-a-ay back, last Tuesday, we had guest teachers again... (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/08/16/more-jb-fc-magic/) That was fun!

But the day after we had no teacher at all! (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/08/18/i-think-we-might-have-a-new-convert/) :tears:

Last Saturday I went to a wee party (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/08/21/wee-party/), and had the time of my life!

On to this week...

On Tuesday I celebrated 6 months of dancing!!! (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/08/23/6-months/)

Last night I was just tired (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/08/24/francks-back/), but I had a good time anyway, and managed not to drop anyone on the floor (but only just. :o)

Next update will probably be in the wee hours of Sunday morning, assuming I can get a lift to and from Edinburgh... :flower:

Cheers guys, and thanks for reading and posting comments!

Hi Guys,

It's been almost a full month since I posted here, but that doesn't mean either me or my blog have been idle. :D

I've been to my first full Edinburgh party (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/08/28/edinburgh-party/), where I met killingtime and The Long One and danced to some surprising tunes...

A not-so-great night at JJ's (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/08/30/sore-ankle/) when I had a sore ankle.

Then I went on my Grand Tour (http://www.cerocscotland.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6177), but I've already posted links to my blog entries (http://www.cerocscotland.com/forum/showpost.php?p=150117&postcount=19) about it...

I posted a post-mortem (http://www.cerocscotland.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6400) on my blog, but also on the forum for discussion.

After my Grand Tour finished with a party then workshop, last week I was a bit danced-out, so last Tuesday at JJ's (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/09/14/no-where-near-granada/) I was dancing really bad, but perfected my technique for getting asked to dance as a result...

Last Thursday I went back to Rutherglen (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/09/15/more-fancy-footwork-in-rutherglen/) for the Ceroc Plus class, and learnt my second dip. Still was a bit worn out though...

After my first non-dancing weekend in about 6 weeks, I've had a good week this week.

On Tuesday, at JJ's I felt that my musicality (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/09/20/dips-and-leans-and-rock-and-roll/) had received a big boost.

On Wednesday I was back at the GUU (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/09/21/its-been-ages/) for my first class-night there in about a month. And again, I had a really good musical night, though I found out I may be a "doom-doom", rather than a "shoogy-shoog". I'm still not sure though...

Last night I made it three in a row (http://ducasi.org/blog/2005/09/22/3-in-a-row/) at Rutherglen, but my feet were sore, and I was tired, and so didn't have my best night...

Got to thank everybody for dropping by and checking out all my random thoughts, and maybe even contributing their own random comments. :D

Hope to see lots of you in Edinburgh tomorrow!
