Can anyone think of song-lyrics that feature good (or bad) advice for a successful Modern Jive?

Here's a starter for ten, from Try A Little Tenderness:

"you've got to hold her, squeeze her, never leave her, now get to her, got got got to try a little tenderness, yeah yeah"

Any advances?

Obvious, but:

'When marimba rhythms start to play
Dance with me, make me sway
Like a lazy ocean hugs the shore
Hold me close, sway me more

Like a flower bending in the breeze
Bend with me, sway with ease
When we dance you have a way with me
Stay with me, sway with me

Other dancers may be on the floor
Dear, but my eyes will see only you
Only you have the magic technique
When we sway I go weak

I can hear the sounds of violins
Long before it begins
Make me thrill as only you know how
Sway me smooth, sway me now....'

U Got 2 Let The Music - Cappella

"You got to let the music move your feet"

(Oh, and now I'm reminded, Hyperreal by The Shamen, as currently featured in my signature!)

"Dance with me" (Sisqo) - also has the line

"maybe we can do a little cha cha"

By the same artist:

"Let me see that thong" (OK, perhaps not  )

Oh put your hand in mine
Promise I'll take my time
We'll dance from head to toe
I can dance fast or slow
Baby look into my eyes
Let the music hypnotize
Let our bodies synchronize
One dance and you'll be mine...

and another one...

Well it makes no difference
If it's cool or hot
Cause you just got to give that rhythm
Everything you've got
It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing

Good advice:

"Be Cool" - Paffendorf

"Follow Da Leader" - Soca Boys vs Chocolate Puma

"Don't Stop Movin'" - S Club 7

Playing With Knives - Bizarre, Inc : "Just dance and move your body"

For some bad advice...

"Pitchin' (In Every Direction)" - Hi-Gate

Hands Up - Trevor & Simon : "Put your hands up in the air and dance to the beat"

As it grooves your body moves
Your body starts to get the feelin', and what you're feelin' is happiness
Let your body go as you listen, let it flow through your system
It'll take control of your mind and make you move your behind

I bet you're moving your body from side to side
I bet the groove that you're hearin' is keeping you satisfied
Dancin' by yourself is bad for your health
So grab a cutie by the hand and tell her that you wanna dance

Wiggle it just a little bit, I wanna see you wiggle it just a little bit, as it grooves
Wiggle it just a little bit, I wanna see you wiggle it just a little bit, as it grooves

This is for the ones
That like to party till dawn
And the beat won't stop
Till the last one drops
And the people won't stay
If the DJ don't play
This if for the ones
Who like to really have fun
And the bad girls do
What the bad boys want to
And the good girls don't
And the good guys really want to
But they're scared
What's the world without a beat of love?
I don't know but it's no place of mine
(And that place I'll never be)
What's the world without a beat of love?
I don't know cause my heart's beating fine
(Thumpin', bumpin')
This is for the old
And the new school too
From the beat box sands
To the hip-hop waste land
From the House of Blues
TO the jazzy and the cool
This is for the world
Or wherever you are
On the sun or moon
Or in between those two
You are never too far
To connect with all of us
From which you stand
What's the world without a beat of love?
I don't know but it's no place of mine
(And that place I'll never be)

En Vogue - :yum: definitely deserves a playing tonight...

Easy, easy, easy baby
take it easy for a while
easy, easy, easy baby
slow and easy is my style
----
You seem to think that acting tough
is what it takes to me a man
but I have to say that dancing rough
is ruining nature's plan
so ..
dance me soft and gentle
turn the light down low
in words so sentimental
tell me what I need to know
-----
Why are we dancing when the moon is bright above?
its a night for romancing, its an evening for love
its the flowers in the springtime
not for dancing to swingtime
so why are we dancing when the moon is bright above?
----
Just remember while you're dancing
you spread some happiness
a cure for loneliness
there still be pain if everything goes wrong
but better than a love song
my love song
-----
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday too
I'm so happy and so are
everybody knows just what to do
Cerocing at the party tonight

Let's Dance
David Bowie

Let's dance put on your red shoes and dance the blues
Let's dance to the song they're playin' on the radio

Let's sway while colour lights up your face
Let's sway sway through the crowd to an empty space

"I move a little closer to you
Am not knowing quite what to do
and I'm...
feeling all fingers and thumbs"

"and then we touch, once too much
this moment has been waiting for a long, long time
Shiver, it makes me quiver.
This moment I am so unsure
This moment I've been waiting for
Well i it something you've been waiting for?
Waiting for too?"

"Give me your eyes, bear your soul
gather me to you and make me whole
Tell me your secrets, sing me a song
Sing it to me in a silent tone."

Phwoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrr.

God, I think I need to sit down now......

Do you believe in magic in a young girl's heart
How the music can free her, whenever it starts
And it's magic, if the music is groovy
It makes you feel happy like an old-time movie
I'll tell you about the magic, and it'll free your soul
But it's like trying to tell a stranger 'bout rock and roll

If you believe in magic don't bother to choose
If it's jug band music or rhythm and blues
Just go and listen it'll start with a smile
It won't wipe off your face no matter how hard you try

Your feet start tapping and you can't seem to find
How you got there, so just blow your mind

If you believe in magic, come along with me
We'll dance until morning 'til there's just you and me
And maybe, if the music is right
I'll meet you tomorrow, sort of late at night
And we'll go dancing, baby, then you'll see
How the magic's in the music and the music's in me

Yeah, do you believe in magic
Yeah, believe in the magic of a young girl's soul
Believe in the magic of rock and roll
Believe in the magic that can set you free
Ohh, talking 'bout magic

Do you believe like I believe Do you believe in magic
Do you believe like I believe Do you believe, believer
Do you believe like I believe Do you believe in magic

Frank Sinatra - Too Close for Comfort

Be wise, be smart, behave, my heart
Don't upset your cart when she's so close
Be soft, be sweet, but be discreet
Don't go off your feet, she's so close for comfort

Too close, too close for comfort, please, not again
Too close, too close to know just when to say "when"

Be firm, be fair, be sure, beware
On your guard, take care, while there's such temptation

One thing leads to another
Too late to run for cover
She's much too close for comfort now

OK. I've got one!

You put your left foot in
Your left out
in, out, in, out
You shake it all about
You do the yoky coky and you turn around
That's what it's all about.

No? Oh, OK, maybe not.

On the importance of good technique:

"She's got such a fine brown frame
I wonder what could be her name
She looks good to me, and all I can see
Is her fine brown frame"

On the appropriate footwork pattern for Ceroc:

"People around me can all walk,
A one and a two and a three
But any resemblance to dancing
Is strictly coincidentally."
(From "Arthur Murray, taught me dancing, in a hurry.")

Another tack on this, is to match the moves to the words of the song-

when marimba rhythms start to sway

jump for my love

windmill windmill for the land

etc

What is that track? Is that the one out recently, mixture of rap and, err, other stuff?

If so, it's great, who's it by though?

From Eternal Flame:

"Close your eyes
Give me your hand, darlin' "

I'd just like to say that closing your eyes when dancing would be a very BAD idea!

Right, back to the lyrics:

Courtesy of Bob Dylan:
Wiggle wiggle wiggle in your boots and shoes
Wiggle wiggle wiggle you got nothing to loose
Wiggle wiggle wiggle like a swarm of bees

And from Taste of Honey:
If you're thinkin' you're too cool to boogie
Boy oh boy have I got news for you
Everybody here tonight was boogin'
Let me tell you
You are no exception to the rule

Git on up on the floor
Cuz we're gonna boogie oogie oogie
till you just can't boogie no more
Boogie no more
You can't boogie no more (boogie!)
Boogie no more
Listen to the music...

There's no time to waste, let's get this show on the road
Listen to the music and let your body float
The sooner we begin the longer we've got the groove
Listen to the music and let your body move

Now git on up on the floor
Cuz we're gonna boogie oogie oogie
till you just can't boogie no more
Boogie no more
You can't boogie no more (boogie!)
Boogie no more
Listen to my bass here

Get down, boogie oogie oogie
Get down, boogie oogie oogie
Get down, boogie oogie oogie
Get down....

Yes, I quoted the whole song. So there!

What is that track? I think it might be from Gorillaz (?sp) Feel Good Inc.
The tune is very like the bit from The Kinks' Lazy Sunday Afternoon, where The Kinks sing: "the tax man's taken all my dough"
